Any personal information that the individual provided when creating their account or receiving a quote, will be pre-populated on the personal information screens (Sample below). Missing information will be highlighted in red. Sample Personal Information Screen: 12
Glossary Throughout the application, many terms are underlined and shaded blue, clicking them produces a definition from the glossary. Medicare Information The Medicare Claim number entered is validated electronically with Medicare data, if a record is found the Part A and B dates are populated automatically. 13
Health Information Based on the information entered in the Medicare section the system determines whether an individual is in their open enrollment period or not. If not, the client is now asked if they are in a Guaranteed Issue situation. If they answer yes or not sure a series of questions to further define the situation appear. If in an Open Enrollment or Guaranteed Issue situation the client will see only the tobacco and height/weight questions in the health section If in an Underwritten situation they will be presented with all the required health questions and a prescription drug entry screen 14
Answers to health questions can be clarified for Underwriting by completing the additional information section Review If they have answered the Guaranteed Issue question "yes" they will be presented with a section where they can upload proof of their situation. The appropriate termination letter or proof of coverage can be scanned or photographed and then attached to the application, all major image file types are accepted (PDF, jpeg, etc). The file upload can be skipped if the client doesn't have the means to capture and upload an image but our underwriting staff will need to obtain proof before they can issue the policy. 15
When the application has been completed the applicant will have the opportunity to review. The application will appear as a normal paper app with the information appropriately populated. The individual will also be presented with the Medicare Buyers Guide and the outline of coverage. These are downloadable documents. After the documents are reviewed the applicant must close the windows they opened those documents in, being very careful not to close the window that the application website is running in. Payment The final step in the process is to choose their premium payment options. Initial premium payments can be made with a Credit Card or Automatic Bank Withdrawal. Subsequent premium payments must be made with Automatic Bank Withdrawal. Payment with check or money order is not available on the e-app. 16
