Introduction The Remote Monitor is an application that can install on a Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP Macintosh OS 9 or Macintosh OS X computer. The software allows you to view the status and workload of any CtServer connected to the network. The CtServer and Remote Monitor Getting Started Guide provides the installation instructions for both the PC and MAC versions. This manual provides instructions for monitoring CtServer Servers from Remote Monitors and assumes that Remote Monitor has already been installed. The first section of this manual provides instructional information for the Remote Monitor for the PC. The second section of this manual provides instructional information for the Remote Monitor for the Macintosh. While the Mac remote monitor window can display one status window, the PC remote monitor can display multiple status windows, representing many CtServers, at one time. Within each remote monitor status window you can see if the recorder is online, offline, imaging or out of media. Additionally, you can see if CtServer is imaging, ready, halted for an error, or has been shut down by the operator. When you are ready to image a file, you can also use the remote monitor to locate the CtServer, on your network, that has the correct property set for your image. Each status window can display all of the selected job list properties in a convenient graphical format. Finally, you can monitor the list of jobs each CtServer has, see which property set each job is assigned to, what each job s status is and how many jobs are waiting to be imaged. AG45087 Rev.4 1

Mac Remote Monitor Introduction To use the Mac OS 9 Remote Monitor you must have the Macintosh Services software installed on the Windows NT Server or Windows 2000 Server. Alternatively, you may have an appropriate third-party appletalk protocol package, such as PC Mac LAN by Miramar Systems, installed. (See appendix A in the CtServer Operator Guide (AG45089)). Additionally, you must use the Macintosh Chooser to establish the network connection. To use Mac OS X you do not need to have the appletalk protocols installed. The remote monitor can display a single status window at a time. Within the remote monitor status window you can see if the recorder is online, offline, imaging or out of media. Additionally, you can see if CtServer is imaging, ready, halted for an error, or has been shut down by the operator.
