Job Title: Responsible to: Responsible for: Lecturer A - Pathway Lead School Nursing The Director of Studies for Nursing, Integrated Care and NMC Specialist Practice Awards Not applicable Job Summary and Purpose To develop a personal research portfolio in line with the School s research strategy, to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to participate in School administration, as appropriate. The duties of the role may be carried out with the guidance of a mentor, if required. Main Responsibilities/Activities To support the research activities of the School by: Developing the research activities of the School by developing an area of personal research and expertise, independently and/or in collaboration with others as part of a larger research team. Undertaking research activities (sometimes under supervision) in accordance with a specific project plan, and supervising and guiding the work of staff and research students on own specialist area. Assisting with the development of research proposals and funding bids, with appropriate support, as a self-contained item or as part of a broader programme. Publishing original research in appropriate journals or other media, as appropriate. Attending appropriate conferences for the purpose of disseminating research results or for personal development Sustaining and developing professional expertise and maintaining the requirements for registration with the appropriate body under the guidance of a senior colleague (for academics with clinical links only). May have responsibility for research staff employed on programmes and awards directed by the post holder. To support the teaching objectives of the School by: Helping to develop new teaching methods and design programme units, and sharing responsibility for the quality of programme units. Planning, delivering and critically reviewing a range of teaching and assessment activities including lectures. Assisting with the training and supervision of students (including research students) and acting as a tutor for industrial/professional training year students, according to own area of subject specialism. Setting/marking programme work, practical sessions, supervisions, fieldwork and examinations according to own area of subject specialism, and providing appropriate feedback to students. Taking part in activities such as validating and examining in relation to the University s associated institutions. To engage in scholarship by:

Continually updating knowledge and understanding in the field or specialism and translating the knowledge of advances in the subject area into the course of study. Person Specification The post holder must have: An honours degree or an appropriate and equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject. Job Summary and Purpose To have significant input to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. To make a significant contribution to Faculty/Department management and administration as appropriate. Main Responsibilities/Activities Teaching delivery and development Develop teaching methods, materials, technologies and learning environments which enhance the students learning opportunities whilst creating an environment for understanding and enthusiasm amongst students. Assist in the development of curricula and lead on programme and course innovations whilst taking responsibility for the quality of programmes developed. Plan, deliver and critically review a range of teaching and learning activities including lectures. Contribute to the development of the Faculty's Teaching and Learning Strategy. Develop and apply innovative and relevant teaching, learning and assessment techniques including peer review and other recognised metrics. Develop appropriate criteria for the assessment of programmes of work, practical sessions, fieldwork and examinations in subject specialism, and provide appropriate protocols for excellent feedback to students. Continually update knowledge and understanding of subject specialism and apply to course of study. xtend transform and apply new knowledge from pedagogic developments to teaching and appropriate external activities as part of an integrated approach to academic practice. ngage in professional and pedagogical research to support subject specialism teaching and learning activities. Student pastoral care Develop and use pastoral care skills to support the academic development of students and ensure a good student experience. Act as personal tutor and give full support before referring students on to appropriate services. Management and administration Take on administrative duties such as the xamination Officer and Timetabling Officer which contribute to the efficient management and administration of the Faculty/Department. Be fully involved with students at all levels of support.

Active involvement in academic, professional or clinical networks in the discipline and start to undertake leadership roles in these networks. Person Specification Post holders are expected to hold a degree higher degree or appropriate professional qualification. The Pathway leaf School Nursing will work with and through the relevant Module Leaders and contribute to the School s research activity. They will ensure that all professional requirements are met during the programme. They will work closely with the DoS for NMC Specialist practice. Responsible for: Leading the School Nursing content development within curricula and modules and contributing own expertise to research activity of the School. Teaching across modules within the programmes according to own speciality, ensuring an excellent student experience within taught sessions and supporting the practice component of the programme.
