Master s Degree Psychology Psychology is concerned with the human experience, thinking, feeling and behaviour, as well as the causes and conditions thereof. During the Bachelor s degree, students acquired fundamental knowledge relating to the basic and applied sub-disciplines. The Master s Degree Programme consolidates this knowledge and leads towards the application of these skills in a well-grounded scientific psychological occupation. In line with the curriculum, the required subjects are Diagnosis/Counselling/Interview Guidance, Health Psychology/Psychotherapy, Research Methods and Evaluation, as well as a practical module. In addition, two restricted electives serve to apply and expand the knowledge gained during the Bachelor s degree. The specific model used in Klagenfurt aims to lead to an understanding of the individual and of groups, which derives from the synergy of approaches contributed by Culture Studies, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences. In doing so, it maintains the principle of interdisciplinarity by setting the research focus in the areas of Psychoanalysis, Psychotherapy and Intervention Research, Culture, Conflict and Trauma, Lifelong Development, Qualitative-quantitative Methodology Research and Cognitive Research. Generally, the Master s Degree Programme is classified as part of the Natural Sciences, however in the case of the AAU, the discipline of Psychology belongs to the Social Sciences and Cultural Studies, as well as to the Natural Sciences.

Daniel Andreas Richter, BSc MA student I have come to understand how knowledge about human behaviour, human development, feeling and perception is scientifically generated and interpreted.
