Forensic Psychology Solutions Training and Development provide a range of training events for forensic practitioners. The aim is to provide excellent quality but affordable training in a range of subjects within Forensic Psychology practice. We run with small numbers of delegates as we believe this provides a more effective learning experience. See http://middlesexpsychology.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/jackie-gray-attends-wais-iv-training.html for a critique of a previous workshop. Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale- 4th Version (WAIS-IV) ADMINISTRATION AND INTERPRETATION 3 DAY TRAINING WORKSHOP 15-17 th April 2015 Central London Venue Pearsons UK 80 Strand London WC2R 0RL About the Training Wechsler s concept of intelligence is that of a global entity which could also be categorized by the sum of many specific abilities. The WAIS-IV is the most recent revision of Wechsler s adult intelligence scale. The WAIS-IV unlike previous versions was developed with specific theoretical foundations reflecting the latest research and information in areas of intelligence theory, adult cognitive functioning and development and cognitive neuroscience. This three day training event focuses on the theoretical underpinnings, the administration, scoring and interpretation of the WAIS-IV.,

Background to WAIS-IV and cognitive assessment Administration of all 15 sub-tests Scoring of sub-tests, indices and scales Interpretation of the scores How to detect malingering in cognitive assessment Writing your Cognitive Assessment in Reports Introduction to use of Cognitive Assessment in Formulation Training costs include post course up to two hours supervision per delegate to cover either passing out using a recording of administration or supervision of a first report of the WAIS-IV. This training workshop is supported by Pearson Assessment and held at the training rooms of Pearsons UK at The Strand, London. Delegates that take part in the training will be offered a 10% discount on the WAIS IV kit from Pearson Assessment. Please ensure that you request the code required to take advantage of this offer. Aims of the Workshop To provide the delegate with sufficient theoretical knowledge to understand the WAIS-IV as an assessment of cognitive functioning. To equip the delegate with the skills to administer and score the WAIS-IV with confidence and to go forwards from the training and be successfully passed out in administration of the assessment. To provide the delegate with the knowledge and skills to begin to interpret scores and write competent reports on cognitive assessment using the WAIS-IV. To equip the delegate with sources of information to extend their learning and development in cognitive assessment. Who can attend the workshop The WAIS-IV assessment should only be used by, or supervised by a HCPC Registered Psychologist. Those delegates who are not registered with the HCPC will attend on the understanding that their use of the assessment will be in accordance with the WAIS-IV Manual and that practice will be supervised by a Registered Psychologist who has competence in the assessment. It would be expected that delegates would at minimum hold a BSc or BA in Psychology. Those that attend the training but do not

have that supervision in place should not use the assessment tool with clients but may attend for professional development purposes only. It is not expected that delegates will have prior knowledge of the WAIS cognitive assessments such as the WAIS-III, although the workshop will be open to those who have had previous experience or have been trained in the WAIS-III. If in doubt please contact us at info@forensicpsychologysolutionsltd.co.uk.
