To access the online orientation module, students must connect to the college website (www.ogeecheetech.edu), select Current Students and then select Online Course Orientation.

Proctoring Exams/Assignments: Textbook & Materials In order to comply with accreditation requirements for the validation of student identity for all online courses, all students enrolled in online courses at Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) are required to have at least one on-campus or proctored event (a major exam or assignment). The proctored event will count a minimum of 20% of the course grade. Proctored events should be completed prior to the last two weeks of the semester. The proctored event will be administered on the instructor s home campus and will be monitored by the instructor or another OTC employee. Students MUST attend the on-campus or proctored session as scheduled on the Lesson Plan/Course Calendar. Students living further than 50 miles from campus who cannot come to OTC for the event must secure an approved proctoring site. The site and the proctor must meet OTC s requirements. Students arranging offcampus proctoring must take the event on the same day it is originally scheduled. Students who do not complete the proctored event as scheduled must have a valid documented excuse within three business days after the scheduled event. If the excuse is approved, students must make arrangements with the instructor to makeup/reschedule the missed event. The penalty and makeup instructions will be at the instructor s discretion. Attendance is extremely important for success in this course. Attendance will be checked at the start of each class period. Tardiness is disruptive, unfair to, and inconsiderate of others. It can develop into a bad habit that could ultimately cost you a job! If you come in late, it is your responsibility to see that your absence gets changed to a tardy! Food and beverages are not allowed in classrooms/labs. NO CHEWING GUM ALLOWED. Please see the instructor before class to ask permission to have your phone on vibrate. Students may withdraw from a course without academic penalty until the midpoint of the term (as stated in the Academic Calendar and in the OTC Catalog and Student Handbook). By withdrawing before the midpoint of the term, the student is automatically assigned a grade of W, which does not affect term or cumulative grade point average. Grades of W will affect satisfactory academic progress for financial aid purposes. Students who stop attending class(es) without formally withdrawing risk earning a final grade of F, which will appear on the academic transcript. Refer to the OTC Catalog and Student Handbook for further details.

It is to be made up as soon as possible after the due date. The only work that can be made up is work that you have communicated with me about and you have received an extension. It is to be made up as soon as possible after the due date. You may be dropped from the class roll when your absences exceed 10% of the total class hours for the course. IN THIS COURSE, 10% EQUALS 3 DAYS. If you are dropped from a class there will be no appeal process. Please stay in touch with me concerning any missed days. If I know what is going on with you, I will work with you on attendance. There is no extra credit in this class. However, if you completed the end of semester course evaluation and send me the confirmation sheet that you did the evaluation, I will add 5 points to your lowest test grade. Academic honesty is expected at all times. Any student found to have engaged in academic misconduct such as cheating, plagiarism, or collusion is subject to disciplinary sanctions as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct detailed in the OTC Catalog and Student Handbook. The term plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the use, by paraphrase or direct quotation, of the published or unpublished work of another person without full and clear acknowledgment. The term collusion includes, but is not limited to, the unauthorized collaboration with any other person in preparing work offered for academic credit. Students are advised that faculty routinely use turnitin.com both to prevent plagiarism and to assist in verifying when/if it has occurred. In case of emergency while on campus, please refer to the Emergency Operations and Safety Plan and the Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan found by the door of all classrooms and labs on the OTC campus. A student ID is required in order to check out any materials from the Library or to use a computer. A self-service, black and white copier is also available. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday from 7am until 9:30pm.
