Cautions: Before you execute the Recovery procedure,make sure you have all your data files backed up. After recovery, the system will be back to the manufacturing settings. Before and during recovery, make sure that the FlyBook Adapter is always plugged with electrical power. The recovery procedure may be fail and FlyBook may then become not workable if the DC Adapter does not plugged in or work well. Types of Recovery There are cases when a customer may need to recover FlyBook. The Recovery provided on FlyBook allow users to : 1. Recover FlyBook by using the Recovery Partition on the Hard Drive; 2. Recover FlyBook by using Recovery DVD within the original FlyBook package. Using Hard Drive for recovery, a special partition within the Hard Drive, the Recovery Partition, is to copied back to the system partition of the Hard Drive. After recovery, the system partition ( C: logical drive) on the Hard Drive is recovered back to manufacturing state. Using Recovery DVD for recovery, a DVD Drive is applied. Users may select to recover system partition, complete Hard Drive or, in some case, the MBR area. The Recovery procedure also contains the solution for battery calibration. Following are the procedures for doing the recovery with these types. FlyBook V33i Series Recovery Procedure 2 of 7

To recover FlyBook by using the Recovery Partition on the Hard Drive There is a built-in Recovery Partition on the Hard Drive of the FlyBook. Below is The procedure to do the recovery. Operation Procedure: 1. Stop and close all programs,then restart the system. 2. When Hit F9 strings is display at upper-left corner of the display, press F9 key. The [FlyBook System Recovery] window (shown below) will be displayed on the screen. 3. Under Basic section, press [Tab] key to change the focus position to [Restore System Partition] button, and then press Enter key to start Recovery. 4. Another screen is displayed (shown below). Press [Tab] key to change the focus position to [Yes] button, and press Enter key to confirm the Recovery. FlyBook V33i Series Recovery Procedure 3 of 7

5. FlyBook is now under recovering. 6. When the recovery is complete, the screen is back to [FlyBook System Recovery] window. 7. Then press [Tab] key to change the focus position to [Reboot] button and press Enter key to restart FlyBook. FlyBook is now recovered its System Partition back to manufacturing state and the new boot is based on the recovered system. FlyBook V33i Series Recovery Procedure 4 of 7

To recover FlyBook by using Recovery DVD within the original FlyBook package. The components needed for the recovery: A DVD Drive with USB connector and FlyBook Recovery DVD-ROM Disk (shown below). Note : It is highly suggested use the DVD Drive recommended by Dialogue Technology Corp. Operation Procedure: 1. Connect a recommended DVD Drive to FlyBook via USB. An external power is normally needed for DVD Drive. 2. If FlyBook is already powered on, users may open the DVD Drive and insert in with FlyBook Recovery DVD Disk. If it is not, do it later. 3. If FlyBook is already powered on, stop and close all programs, then restart the system. If FlyBook is not powered on, power it on now and DVD Drive should now be available to be opened to insert the FlyBook Recovery DVD. 4. It will then boot from the DVD Drive. If not, please check the BIOS Setup (using F2 button during power-on FlyBook) and move the Boot Device with CD-DVD on the highest priority. 5. A successful boot can have [FlyBook System Recovery] window show up ( shown below). 6. Under Advance section, press [Tab] key to change the focus position to [Restore Entire Hard Drive] button. Press Enter key to start Recovery. This recovery can recover complete Hard Drive. Note : There are another Restore procedure under Basic section which can do the similar recovery as that with Hard Drive Recovery partition. Further, within Utilities section, users may select only to recover MBR. This is used when Hit F9 can not be shown on FlyBook during booting or for other problems come from MBR error. 7. Another screen is displayed (shown below). Press [Tab] key to change the focus FlyBook V33i Series Recovery Procedure 6 of 7

position to [Yes] button, and then press Enter key to start the recovery. 8. FlyBook is now under recovering. 9. When the recovery is complete, the screen is back to [FlyBook System Recovery] window (shown below). 10. Then press [Tab] key to change the focus position to [Reboot] button and press Enter key to restart FlyBook. FlyBook is now recovered its System Partition back to manufacturing state and the new boot is based on the recovered system. FlyBook V33i Series Recovery Procedure 7 of 7
