Eligible students have the opportunity to fast-track their course and finish their degree in two years rather than three, saving a year of living costs and time. You may complete a double major in the same time. From day one, you ll have access to strong student support services and our small class sizes will provide a personalised and supportive study environment where you ll further develop your communication skills and confidence. As a La Trobe University student in Sydney, you get the chance to join our internship program while you study. An internship is an unpaid position within a corporate environment, with an emphasis on developing skills relevant to your career path. The internship usually lasts 12 to 16 weeks and enables you to: gain invaluable work experience and to transfer knowledge and theories from your university course into a corporate environment increase your chances of full-time employment after graduation within your chosen career obtain a workplace reference letter at the end of your internship to add to your resume. CHOOSE YOUR COURSE Our courses offer opportunities to put what you learn into practice by participating in our internship program. During your course, you ll have the chance to complement your studies with business simulations, industry-related projects and mentoring. Your subjects will introduce you to accounting, finance, management, marketing and economics all key to understanding business environments. Having sampled a range of subjects in first semester, you can then choose one or two majors to specialise in throughout the remainder of your course. A double major option is available at no additional cost, and with no extra study time required. Study the big issues affecting all businesses globally, such as globalisation, trade barriers, sustainability and the environment. Our Bachelor of Business will give you a well-rounded grasp of business, a wide choice of majors and an exciting range of job opportunities in the field of your choice. This course prepares you for a range of careers in the international business arena by providing a thorough understanding of the rapidly changing global economic environment. Semesters starts: March, July, November TIFFANY WILLIAMSON Bachelor of Business This is an introduction to the world of business, as well as a pathway for students who may not meet the direct entry requirements to La Trobe University bachelor degree courses. You will develop important study skills as well as an understanding of accounting, economics, management, marketing and business analytics. Upon successful completion you will be eligible to enter year two of the specified La Trobe University undergraduate degree programs. * La Trobe University Sydney Campus offers diplomas providing an alternative entry point to our degree programmes. These diplomas are delivered on behalf of Navitas Bundoora Pty Ltd, a Higher Education Provider, CRICOS 03312D I decided to study at La Trobe University Sydney campus because of its central location and flexibility. I was looking for a course which I could complete while working full time. The fast track option was also very attractive. I think the small class size is a big advantage because you really get to interact with the lecturers and learn a lot. For me, personally, this program compliments the work experience I already have and will provide me with the qualification I need for further career progression. This three-year degree has a strong focus on industry projects, giving you the chance to put your theoretical knowledge into practice. In your first year you ll cover subjects such as IT fundamentals, data-based critical thinking, information systems. Your studies will include web applications engineering, computational intelligence and database management systems. This course offers an alternative pathway to La Trobe University s Bachelor of Information Technology, specialising in software development. Subjects include Fundamentals of IT, Programming Environment, Information Systems, Fundamentals of Object Orientated Programming, Data-Based Critical Thinking and three business electives. COURSE FEES AND HOW TO APPLY 2016 COURSE FEES: DOMESTIC STUDENTS Program Bachelor of Business (Majors: Accounting, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing) Bachelor of Information Technology Bachelor of International Business Total course fee (A$) CSP only CSP only CSP only Diploma of Business* $17,500 Diploma of Information Technology* $17,500 Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens and permanent residents of Australia are classified as domestic students and must apply for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP). These are university places that are subsidised by the Australian Government. In a CSP, the government contributes to the cost of your studies and you pay the balance. HECS-HELP loans are available to eligible students enrolled in a CSP to cover all or part of the student contribution amount. If you receive a HECS- HELP loan, the Australian Government will pay the loan amount directly to your higher education provider on your behalf. Your HECS-HELP debt is recorded with the Australian Taxation Office, and no fees are charged on HECS-HELP loans. CSP placements are limited. STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES The Sydney Campus gives you access to a range of support services to help you as you study. SUPPORT WHILE YOU STUDY Academic Integrity Module (AIM) All students undertaking our courses must be enrolled in and complete the AIM module in their first semester. AIM will: guide you through your responsibilities as a student provide examples of correct academic conduct show you where to find useful information and examples of referencing styles specific to your course. Academic support workshops Academic and writing support workshops are held over several weeks throughout the trimester and are free of charge. Participants are asked to bring relevant questions or current assignments to work on during the workshops. The workshops are designed to improve your accounting knowledge or writing skills and help you gain better marks. Counselling service We all experience difficult and confusing times in our lives. Our counselling service provides several ways to explore and address your concerns, including free, confidential sessions with our campus psychologist. For more information about our free counselling service, make an appointment with student services at reception. Career support The Job Ready Program gives you access to skills assessment and career development tools and is combined with the Internship Program to enhance employability. One-on-one coaching helps you to develop your interview skills and resume writing abilities, preparing you for the Internship Program. Library Full library facilities are located on level 2. Computer labs Computer labs as well as a touch-down area are available on campus for students to access the student portal and the internet. JOIN OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Our aim is to increase your employment prospects and job ready skills by giving you the opportunity to gain invaluable professional experience throughout your academic career. ENHANCE YOUR STUDY EXPERIENCE Take advantage of an unpaid position in a corporate environment, with a focus on developing skills relevant to your career path.
