BUT ISN T A CONSULTANCY? Absolutely. And we re big advocates of large-scale public clouds like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure; but we wouldn t be doing our jobs right if we followed a one size fits all approach. A lot of apps and sites aren t designed to take advantage of the public cloud s feature-set and instant scalability. We know that certain sites and apps are better suited in the private cloud. Over the years we ve seen the pitfalls and shortcomings of other private cloud environments and feel that we can do this part of cloud hosting better than anyone else. THE INFRASTRUCTURE BEHIND STEAMCLOUD We ve built a cloud platform with the best hardware and a well thought-out network topology, based on years of experience with virtualisation in a hosting company environment. It s based on VMWare, and located right here in sunny Manchester, in our local Partner Datacentred s Tier 3 facility in Manchester s MediaCity. For those interested in more technical detail, we re using VMware s NSX network virtualisation to automate the design, build and management of networks within the virtualisation infrastructure, removing the potential human error element associated with manual networking setup. All this means better availability, improved security, and quicker setup of your virtual servers.
