MBA (IT) @ MECIT Master of Business Administration in Information Technology Middle East College of Information Technology (MECIT) offers a professional Information Technology MBA degree here in Oman through its strategic partner Coventry University. Coventry University has a long tradition as a provider of higher education. It can trace its roots as far back as Coventry College of Design in 1843. Today Coventry University is a forward-looking, modern University with a proud heritage as a provider of high quality education and a harbinger of multidisciplinary research. The University has established an academic presence regionally, nationally and internationally and takes great care in providing a supportive environment to all its students. The programme is tailor made for graduates and middle managers intending to understand the role of information technology in strategic management. The MBA (Information Technology) programme aims to give the developing manager a good understanding of the potential that IT has to improve effectiveness and enhance competitive positioning of a business. Effective managers need to understand the potential & limitations of IT as it consumes a significant percentage of resources in an organisation. This programme will enable you to make appropriate choices in selecting and leveraging the right IT tools keeping in mind the organisational dynamics without getting deeply engrossed in technical issues. The MBA (Information Technology) encompasses strategy, marketing, finance and human resource management modules which are common to most MBA programmes. In addition, it will provide you with an understanding of information systems (IS) and information technology (IT) components from a strategic view point. Opportunities will be given to critically evaluate the role IT plays in developing an organisation as a whole

as well as the management strategies that are best suited for effective delivery of IS/IT. Further, the role of e-commerce and the demand it places on IS/IT will be examined. LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE PROGRAMME The study undertaken will be based on the latest developments in the appropriate academic and professional disciplines. Participants will understand how the operations of business organisations and its IS/IT functions & strategies are interrelated and how the boundaries of knowledge are advanced through research. They will show originality in the application of knowledge and in tackling and solving problems. They will deal with complex issues, both systematically & creatively, based on an in-depth understanding of business management tools and techniques. They will have qualities needed for employment in complex & unpredictable professional/business environments that require sound judgement, personal responsibilities, innovativeness and leadership. Delivery Model Full-Time Delivery Model The year is divided into 3 semesters. The programme can be completed in months in a full-time mode, starting in either September or February. The course may also be taken on a part-time basis (see our part-time course list for details). Participants will study ten modules (or their equivalent) during the first two semesters. All the assessments for the modules, including coursework assignments, occur within the semesters. Participants who successfully complete the taught modules may exit the

programme with a Postgraduate Diploma or undertake the dissertation over the third semester in order to obtain the award of MBA (Information Technology). Please note that modules may not be offered in the same order and that we reserve the right to amend the programme at short notice in the interest of improving the quality of the programme. Part-Time Delivery Model Participants who would like to continue their work while taking the course over two years may undertake the programme in a part-time mode, by attending classes in a flexible manner. This makes our programme extremely valuable as participants will be able to relate their studies to practical issues they face in the work place, and immediately implement the professional knowledge they acquire during the course. Participants choosing this mode will have to allow extra time for further study and practical work. However, they will be able to do this at home or at the college at their convenience, including weekends. The advantage of the evening programmes is that it operates in four 18 week blocks and two short summer blocks of study; from (approximately) October to January, February to May and from June to September. The following are MBA (Information Technology) delivery characteristics: All modules are awarded - 24 credit points per module. Therefore, with 10 modules in the programme & 1 dissertation a maximum of 180 credit points are required to earn the MBA (Information Technology). The programme is taught over two 18 week semesters and one week block (over the summer). Faculty from Coventry University will be flying down to teach select modules.

*Classes can be undertaken in a very flexible manner, making it convenient for the participants. (* Conditions apply)
