City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Accredited by City & Guilds, NVQs are one of the most popular methods of learning with candidates and employers alike as they demonstrate an individual s ability to carry out work-related tasks. Who is it for? The NVQ Certificate is designed for people who have an element of responsibility for health and safety within their role in the workplace. The NVQ is for team leaders, supervisors, safety representatives, managers and heads of department. Designed to assess and verify knowledge and competence in the practical application of occupational health and safety. In-company. Content The qualification consists of seven units. Five are mandatory and two can be chosen from four optional units. For more information on the units please refer to the NVQ standards. The NVQ is workplace based and time-flexible; with no formal examination, candidates are expected to complete a NVQ Certificate within 18 months, but will receive support for a two year period. Assessment To achieve the NVQ Certificate you must demonstrate competence and knowledge in criteria specified within each individual unit. This is achieved through a combination of written statements, evidence, workplace observations, witness testimonies, discussions and questions. Dedicated assessors will review each unit to ensure all requirements have been met before sign off. These are then passed to our internal verifier for further review. All seven units must be completed and a sample verified before the NVQ Certificate can be awarded. Successful candidates receive a City & Guilds certificate. The NVQ Diploma is designed for health and safety practitioners who have the ability and scope to develop, implement, monitor and review policies and procedures in relevant health and safety management matters. The qualification consists of ten mandatory units. Why is it important? City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector This course provides an introduction to basic practical teaching skills, principles and theory. Ideal for candidates that need skills to identify learning needs, plan for learning, engage learners who have differing characteristics and assess learning. Who is it for? The qualification is for learners who work, or want to work, as teachers or trainers. It is a mandatory qualification for those wishing to teach in the regulated education sector in England and is also widely recognised as the standard for those beginning to teach or train in all sectors. Other units can be incorporated on request. 001: Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning 002: Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in lifelong learning 003: Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning 007: Principles of assessment in lifelong learning. Duration A five day course which can be delivered as a block in one week or split to suit you over an agreed period. Assessment Learners complete assignments and collate evidence relating to the requirements of each unit within a designated period of time following the completion of the course. This will include preparation and delivery of a 15 minute micro teach session during the course. Successful completion of the award is dependent upon this evidence being assessed and verified. It focuses on best practice rather than legislation, and is suitable for candidates from around the world, not just those from the UK Successful candidates are awarded a certificate from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) As well as traditional health and safety measures, the course covers pollution and how organisations can avoid creating it. Our awards allow applicants to measure their achievements against those of their peers in the UK and internationally. As well as rewarding best practice, our awards are a great way for you to publicise your company s achievements and enhance your reputation. International Safety Awards To win one of our annual International Safety Awards, applicants must answer a series of questions about their health and safety management. Applications are marked by independent adjudicators. For really exceptional applications, a distinction is awarded. Winners can use a celebratory logo to mark their achievement and are invited to be presented with their award at a gala dinner, where they have the chance to celebrate their success with other winners. Sword and Globe of Honour The Sword and Globe of Honour awards are open to organisations achieving a Five Star rating in our Five Star Health and Safety or Environmental Audit in the previous year. The awards recognise the best of the best in health, safety and environmental management. Winners are invited to enjoy a prestigious luncheon, as well as press coverage, use of the winner s logo, trophy and certificate. Policy and opinion We are dedicated to making workplaces everywhere safe and healthy. We represent the views of our members, businesses ranging in size and covering all sectors. We couple our vision with their experience and insight to inform decision makers, regulators and other stakeholders. We have influenced and shaped health and safety policy and law since 1957. By sharing our expertise and knowledge with opinion formers and policy makers we ve helped make workplaces safer.
