NORTHERN VIRGINIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE & MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY ARTICULATION AGREEMENT Established September 1998 Updated June 2006

TRANSFER AGREEMENT STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLE This document establishes an articulation agreement between Northern Virginia Community College and Marymount University. The agreement reflects goals of each institution: Northern Virginia Community College s goal of providing college transfer curricula to students preparing to enter four-year institutions, and Marymount University s goal of providing increased access to baccalaureate degrees for both full-time and part-time students. This agreement will be implemented by the Registrars at Northern Virginia Community Colleges and the Director of Admissions at Marymount University. They will direct efforts to inform students of this agreement and will create clear procedures to insure convenient transfer between the institutions. GPA AND CREDIT HOUR REQUIREMENTS Transfer students from Northern Virginia Community College must follow the admissions policies and procedures set forth by Marymount University. Marymount University will not accept transfer of any course credits earned with a grade below C. (A grade of C-minus is not sufficient.) Marymount has a policy limiting transfer credit for students entering the University from a community college. No more than 64 credit hours of course work earned at a community college may be applied to the 120 credit hours required for completion of a bachelor s degree at Marymount University. Marymount recognizes course work completed at a community college as equivalent to freshman and sophomore level course work at the University. For all baccalaureate programs at Marymount, at least 24 hours of course work in the major program must be fulfilled by course work at the junior and senior level. (The 24 hour junior/senior course work minimum may include the internship and senior seminar, if required.) COURSE EQUIVALENCIES Upon review of their respective curricula, Northern Virginia Community College and Marymount University identify the course equivalencies shown in the following table. Note that additional courses offered by Northern Virginia Community College may be accepted by Marymount University, either applicable to a specific program of study or as general electives. Admissions representatives at Marymount will provide additional information regarding courses not included in this listing.

PRIOR LEARNING Northern Virginia Community College graduates who possess significant employment-related education, independent study or other non-college educational experiences are eligible to seek academic credit for their prior learning under Marymount University s Portfolio Assessment and Credit by Examination Program, otherwise known as the PACE Program. The availability and amount of prior learning credit is subject to the requirements of each Marymount University degree program. NURSING ARTICULATION Because Northern Virginia Community College s associate degree program in nursing is accredited by the National League for Nursing (NLN), graduates of the AAS in Nursing program qualify for entry into Marymount University s RN to BSN degree program without any requirement for validation tests for nursing course work. Other requirements of the baccalaureate nursing program, such as non-nursing but related course work and the Liberal Arts Core requirement, will be evaluated in accord with general University policies and guidelines included in this agreement. EFFECTIVE DATE AND REVIEW OF AGREEMENT This agreement becomes effective upon approval by both institutions and will continue through June 30, 2008. The two institutions agree to review the usefulness of the articulation agreement for attaining the goals outlined in the Statement of Principles during the Spring 2008 semester. The agreement may be extended upon mutual agreement indicated in writing. APPROVED FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE APPROVED FOR MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY Dr. Robert G.
