1 Template for NC Community College CAA students earning an AAS degree who are intersted in a RN-BSN Degree at WINSTON-SALEM STATE UNIVERSITY The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is an applied degree thus a student transferring to WSSU in the RN-BSN program must complete the general education requirements. Transfer courses are considered on a course-by-course basis. Any program/major courses that satisfy the Universal General Education Transfer Component will be noted in the column " by Major" up to the limits of each category. At WSSU transfer students are required to take or transfer approximately 60 SH of credits outside of their major program requirements. Many of the 60 SH will be used to address requirements of the general education curriculum. Transfer students should have at least one course in each of the 7 general education Areas of Knowledge Culture and Foreign Language, History, Literature, Mathematics, Natural Science, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and The Fine Arts. Developmental skills courses do not count towards the hours needed to fulfill either general education requirements or the 60 SH outside of the major requirement. Developmental skills courses are noncredit, basic skills classes for students who demonstrate skill deficiencies in writing in English, mathematics, or reading as determined by placement examinations.
