AV Resources and Services Emergency ambulance teams are strategically located to provide optimum response to medical emergencies within Victoria: Emergency ambulance and MICA teams urgently transfer paramedical ambulance personnel, specialist teams and/or medical supplies to an emergency at short notice. 690 vehicles.

Air Ambulance Victoria Five ambulance helicopters provide rapid mobile intensive care ambulance (MICA) paramedic response and transport of time critical patients and retrieval of inaccessible patients by winch. 1240 helicopter patient transports in 2007/08. 5 helicopters Essendon, Latrobe Valley, Bendigo Warrnambool. 4 King Air pressurised fixed wing aircraft transport country people ple to specialist Melbourne clinics and hospitals. 4194 fixed wing patient transports in 2007/08.

Early History of CPAV In December 2004 MAS & RAV submitted a joint paper to the Department of Human Services (DHS) seeking approval of a state-wide Health and Safety initiative aimed to reduce musculoskeletal injuries that stem from patient handling in uncontrolled workplaces. Key component in a state-wide health and safety initiative aimed at reducing musculoskeletal injuries associated with patient handling in uncontrolled workplaces.
History 2006 MAS and RAV received approval for funding from DHS to develop and trial the Complex Patient Vehicle (CPAV). In September 2006 approval of the CPAV Project Management Plan (PMP) to design and build a prototype vehicle and implement three new CPAV by June 2007 was obtained.

Trial Started late 2007 to Feb 09. Deployed in Metro and Rural. Result = Avg 5 cases per 24hr. 7 ECMO, Balloon p.mth Average of 1 Barriatic every 3days. Appox 4.5 non core CPAV p.day OHS benefits to staff.
