Installation New users of Portal If you do not currently run CCH Document Management or CCH Accounts Production within your Central suite, you will need to conduct a database install (Section 1). Otherwise, proceed to Section 2 to complete the Central deploy update and then the Portal Service install in Section 3. Existing users of Portal (version 2013.1) If you have not yet upgraded to the main 2013.2 software release, please follow the instructions you have been sent for that initially. Then follow the instructions in Section 3 below to update the Portal Service. If you have not installed the main 2013.2 release i.e. Portal has not been upgrade to version 2013.2, complete the Central deploy update first see Section 2, before proceeding to Section 3. 1. Database installation (only users without CCH Document Management or CCH Accounts Production) 1.1 Visit www.cchinstall.co.uk and select Run to open the CCH installer. Enter your CCH Software client code and password, and select Next. 1.2 If your CCH Central database is installed on SQL Server 2005 or 2008, select the second option under the Database Install section: CCH PORTAL INSTALLATION GUIDE JUNE 2013 3
1.3 Select the instance of SQL Server with CCH Central this is typically called either CCH2005 or CCH2008, depending on the current version of SQL Server installed. Then click Next : 1.4 The installer will check for prerequisites. If they have all passed, select Next : 4 CCH PORTAL INSTALLATION GUIDE JUNE 2013
Note: The next two steps will be skipped if you already have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed. Go to Step 1.6. 1.5 You will be prompted to indicate where you want to install SQL Server 2008 R2, which is required for the Document database. Some of the functionality needed for Portal requires the installation of the Document database within SQL Server 2008 R2 SQL Server 2005 is not compatible. Choose where you want to install it, and the click Next : 1.6 The installer will then check that some prerequisite components have been installed. You may have to install a piece of software or restart your computer. Click Next when everything is marked as Passed : CCH PORTAL INSTALLATION GUIDE JUNE 2013 5
1.7 If not already installed, SQL Server 2008 R2 will first be downloaded and installed. Otherwise, a new Document database will then be installed. Provided that the correct instance of SQL was chosen for the Central database in Step 1.3, the links between the two will be set as well. You may be prompted to reboot your computer during this stage: 1.8 Once the Document database has installed successfully, select Exit. Continue to Section 2 to follow the instructions to update your Central Deploy folder. 6 CCH PORTAL INSTALLATION GUIDE JUNE 2013

2. Central Deploy update This part of the install will update your Central deploy folder to ensure that you have the requisite files to operate CCH Portal 2013.2 from Central. The Central Suite installer may contain updates for other products, depending on how up-to-date your suite is. This should only be run if you have: a) already installed and are operating CCH Document Management or CCH Accounts Production. or b) already installed the Document Database (following instructions in Section 1). Visit www.cchinstall.co.uk and select Run to open the CCH installer. Enter your CCH Software client code and password, and select Next. 2.1 When you have entered your user credentials successfully, the main installer window will open. Select Update from the options on the left-hand side and then select Check for Updates : 2.2 You should then see a list of update files. 2.3 When your Deploy folder has been updated successfully, select Exit and proceed to install the Portal Service following the instructions in Section 3: CCH PORTAL INSTALLATION GUIDE JUNE 2013 9
3. Portal Service installation The Portal Service is necessary to enable communication between CCH Central and your Portal website in the cloud. Typically, the service is installed in its own folder within the Program Files folder, alongside your Central deploy folder. Log on to your server machine (or where your Central deploy folder is stored). Then, using a web browser visit www.cchinstall.co.uk and select Run to open the CCH installer. Enter your CCH Software client code and password, and select Next. 3.1 From the main installer window, select Services Install. Verify that your Central database has been correctly selected (click Select Database to choose the correct instance if the default has not been allocated). Then, tick against the box for the Portal Service folder location (use the Browse facility to select an appropriate location for your practice) and click Install: Note: in some instances it has been found that the first attempt at the Portal Service installation produces as an error. If this happens, run the installer again. Note: if you are upgrading your Portal Service from 2013.1 to 2013.2, ensure that the existing location of the Service is selected. The contents of the folder will be overwritten by the updated files. Note: the architecture of the messaging service is such that no inbound ports need to be opened in your firewall. However, you may need to open port 9354 so that the service can call out to the infrastructure in the cloud. 3.2 The install : 10 CCH PORTAL INSTALLATION GUIDE JUNE 2013
3.3 Select Finish when the Portal Service successfully completed the installation to exit the installer. Then, proceed to Section 4: CCH PORTAL INSTALLATION GUIDE JUNE 2013 11
4. Database upgrade and final checks 4.1 Once the database install (only if required first time installs only), Central deploy folder update, and Portal Service install have been completed, log on to Central. You will be prompted to conduct a database upgrade. Select Yes to complete the upgrades and follow the prompts: Once the database upgrade(s) have completed, you will be able to get started with Portal. 4.2 Finally, you need to ensure the Microsoft.Net 4 framework is on each workstation. This can be achieved by running the Central Suite Installer on each workstation selecting the Workstation Install from the main installer window. 12 CCH PORTAL INSTALLATION GUIDE JUNE 2013
