4 Pre-Installation Pre-Installation Installation Planning The Non Linear services are available in a base configuration as well as a high performance load balanced environment. The base configuration is the minimum required and must be setup prior to the high performance configuration. Note that the high performance option can be added at a later time if desired and as additional capacity is needed. Application Server Decision Server Decision Server Decision Server Decision Server Decision Servers are Configured as a Network Load Balanced Cluster From the diagram above, the base configuration requires installation of the Application Tier to an Application Server (see the Application Server Installation section). This is the minimum required installation to run the non linear processes. For additional capacity, one or more decision servers can be deployed with decision engines installed (see the decision engine installation section). If more than one decision server is deployed, they should be configured as a network load balanced cluster. The Application Server must be deployed and operational before additional decision engines can be deployed. 5 Pre-Installation Getting Started Restricting User Access during Installation A single account with local administrator privileges should be the only account logged into the machine being installed. This step is critical to mitigating any problems accessing common resources and/or share conflicts. Minimum Requirements The installation requirements for Non Linear Application Server are listed in the table below. 6 Application Server Installation Application Server Installation Overview This section describes the installation steps for the application server. Configuring Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 Follow the steps in Appendix A to setup and configure IIS 7.0. Configuring.NET 4.0 Follow the steps in Appendix B to setup and configure.net 4.0. Installing the Non Linear Application After installing and configuring IIS 7.0 and.net 4.0, the next step is to install the Non Linear Application. 1. Start the Non Linear Application setup wizard by right clicking on the nls_setup.exe on the installation media and selecting Run as administrator : 2015 Imagine Communications Corp. 7 Application Server Installation 2. The installer will prompt to install SQL Server Express if it is not already installed. If prompted, Click Install to continue or proceed to step 3. NOTE: The SQL installation will take several minutes. 3. After SQL Server Express is installed, the InstallShield wizard will step through the installation process. 8 Application Server Installation 4. The next step in the installation process allows for selecting the install location of the software. Click Change to browse for a new location, or leave the default. After the install location is correct, click Next: 5. 9 Application Server Installation 6. Configure the System Defaults for the Non Linear application services. Default Placement Duration: The default length of ads allowed in an avail/placement opportunity when length information is not provided in an ad placement request for nonlinear (VOD/Streaming) entertainment content. Default Placement Count: The default number of ads allowed in an avail/placement opportunity when this information is not provided in an ad placement request for non-linear (VOD/Streaming) entertainment content. Default Aired Percentage: The default percentage of ad which must be viewed before an ad is considered an impression (e.g. if ad length is 30, a 24 second or greater view would be considered an impression if the aired percentage is 80) Once configured or to accept the defaults, click Next: NOTE There is no user interface for maintaining these defaults so after the install is complete, these defaults can only be changed through the database by an authorized system administrator or technical support Imagine Communications Corp. 11 Decision Engine Installation Decision Engine Installation Overview This section describes the installation steps for installation onto one or more decision engine servers. Configuring Network Load Balancing For high throughput environments, the decision engines can be installed onto multiple servers configured to participate in a Network Load Balanced (NLB) cluster. The setup and configuration of the NLB cluster is documented in the Windows Server 2008 help and on Microsoft TechNet (e.g. Configuring Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 Follow the steps in Appendix A to setup and configure IIS 7.0. Configuring.NET 4.0 Follow the steps in Appendix B to setup and configure.net 4.0. Installing Non Linear Decision Engines After installing and configuring IIS 7.0, the next step is to install the Non Linear Application Tier. 1. Start Non Linear Decision Engine setup wizard by right clicking on the installation media and selecting Run as administrator : 2015 Imagine Communications Corp. 14 Appendix A Appendix A Configuring Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 IIS Can be configured via the Server Manager or via command line. Both are described below. If IIS is already installed, please follow the steps below to ensure that all required components are installed. Installation via Server Manager The following steps are to configure IIS for use with all Non Linear services: 1. Click Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager. 2. 16 Appendix A Installation via Command Line Alternatively, the installation and configuration of IIS can be accomplished via the command line. To determine if.net 4 is already installed, perform the following steps: 5. Click Start > Control Panel 6. 19 Appendix C Appendix C Application Server Installation Prerequisites Gather the following information User accounts with local administrator access to all servers. Use these accounts to log into the machine (application server) for the installation. To install, you must have the following Windows permissions and privileges: Domain account with Windows admin privileges for the domain or target machine Write permissions in the installation directory to complete the installation; otherwise the installation will fail Server name, database name, and authentication information for the Novar or OSi database to use Non Linear Application install media Decision Engine Installation Prerequisites Gather the following information User accounts with local administrator access to all servers.
