The NHX6300, a horizontal machining center equipped with unparalleled rigidity and agility, is specifically designed for a No. 50 taper spindle with a pallet size of 630 x 630 mm. The machine developed for high-speed, high-precision machining of large workpieces employs a thick bed and a robust construction. The spindle bearing diameter is increased by 20% to φ120 mm, compared to the conventional model to ensure high rigidity necessary for heavy-duty cutting. The distance between the spindle nose and the center of the pallet is shortened to 50 mm to enable the use of shorter tools, resulting in chatterless machining and improved finished surface quality. What s more, the NHX6300 achieves a 20% faster rapid traverse rate than the conventional machine, which contributes to reducing non-cutting time and increasing productivity. In an effort to improve workability in the working area beside the operation panel, the operation door slides on an arc to ensure easy and smooth door opening and closing and to enhance access to the spindle. This allows heavy No. 50 taper tools to be easily and directly attached to and removed from the spindle. We would like to highlight the features of the NHX6300 focusing on viewpoints of (1) High rigidity, (2) High speed, (3) High precision, (4) Improved reliability, (5) Improved workability, (6) Automation options, (7) MAPPS IV + ESPRIT, (8) Energy saving, (9) MSQP and (10) Safety. (1) High Rigidity The structural analyses have been repeatedly done for the NHX6300 to achieve the optimal machine structure with high rigidity necessary for heavy-duty cutting using a No. 50 taper spindle. The NHX6300 is equipped with a thick, robust bed on which the Z-axis guideways are placed in a high position and the X-axis guideways at different heights. The construction ensures high rigidity enough to resist cutting force imposed in the Z-axis direction. The spindle bearing diameter is increased by 20% compared to the conventional model to 120 mm, which is the largest in its class. (2) High Speed The NHX6300 achieves a 20% higher rapid traverse rate of 60 m/min. compared to the conventional model. The increased slant angle at the rear side of the bed allows the machine to keep the high rigidity and optimize the column weight, contributing to the high-speed feeding. The NHX6300 offers the direct drive motor for the pallet full indexing specification. As the direct drive motor transmits drive power directly to the rotary axes without using gears, it enables high-speed indexing, shorter non-cutting time and greater productivity. (3) High Precision The air and coolant pipes and bolts are installed symmetrically relative to the center of the spindle to control thermal displacement. The NHX6300 is equipped with the direct scale feedback on each axis as standard to offer high-precision machining. The machine achieves a positioning accuracy of less than 3.0 μm on all axes by optimizing the column and other moving parts. The distance between the spindle nose and the center of the pallet is shortened to 50 mm to enable machining with shorter tools, resulting in chatterless machining and improved finished surface quality. With a maximum tool length of 630 mm, which is the same as the pallet size, the NHX6300 is also capable of performing boring without a 180-degree table rotation, ensuring higher boring accuracy and shorter cutting time. (4) Improved reliability The NHX6300 is designed with many features to maintain high reliability for a long period of time. In view of the increased use of high-pressure coolant, the spindle labyrinth structure has been enhanced to ensure no coolant infiltration into the spindle bearing. The ATC (automatic tool changer) arm is equipped with the holding lever to prevent a tool, in particular a long and heavy tool, from falling during tool change operations, making reliable tool change possible. (5) Improved workability In order to offer even better access to the inside of the machine, the height from the floor to the lower end of the operation door has been lowered from 1,430 mm to 870 mm by installing an external step as standard. Additionally, the distance between the operation door opening and the spindle center has been decreased by 40% to 270 mm compared with the conventional model by enabling the operation door to slide in an arc when it is opened and closed. This refinement contributes to significant improvement in accessibility to the spindle, allowing users to easily attach or remove a heavy No. 50 taper tool to or from the spindle. (6) Automation options The NHX6300 provides two types of pallet transfer systems to suit various product types and volume requirements. The CPP (Carrier Pallet Pool) system offers quick and easy system construction thanks to its rich pre-defined packages. From eight packages, users can choose the specifications ideal for their production needs (up to 4 machines and 29 pallet stations can be installed). The LPP (Linear Pallet Pool) system is equipped with a two-level pallet shelf to provide a high level of automation. With LPP, system configuration can be flexibly customized using up to 8 machines and 99 pallet stations, helping users maximize their productivity and operating rates. - 2 -
(7) MAPPS IV + ESPRIT The NHX6300 uses the MAPPS IV high-performance operating system for its operation panel. Featuring the customizable main screen and an easy-to-use button layout, the MAPPS IV provides outstanding operating convenience. The operation panel comes with conversational automatic programming software as standard, and offers ESPRIT CAM software as an option. The combination of the MAPPS IV and ESPRIT enables easy creation of complex machining programs on a PC that is connected to the machine via the network. In addition to the NC memory, the MAPPS IV has a 50 MB user memory area for program storage. This allows users to perform direct operation by transferring machining programs stored in the memory area directly to the NC unit. The USB interface facilitates easy data transfer between the machine and the PC. (8) Energy saving Power supply for the spindle motor, servo motors and coolant pumps can be stopped when the machine is not in operation to reduce environmental burdens and running costs. The hydraulic unit equipped with an accumulator requires no power to maintain hydraulic pressure during standby. Additionally, the use of the latest compact CNC and LED lighting which consume less power contributes to reducing standby power consumption by 27% compared with the conventional model. (9) MSQP Mori Seiki provides a variety of peripheral equipment such as a through-spindle coolant unit, mist collector and pallet pool systems as MSQP (Mori Seiki Qualified Products). MSQP only include products that offer high levels of quality, performance and maintainability and were selected and certified by Mori Seiki. Our MSQP system allows us not only to offer high-quality peripherals together with a machine, but also to ensure extra peace of mind through reliable after-sales support for both machines and peripherals.
