The role of Digital Content Manager Girlguiding is recruiting a Digital Editor, reporting to our Digital Content Manager, to work within our Communications & PR directorate. The Digital Editor will be responsible for supporting the Digital Content Manager in developing a digital content strategy for Girlguiding. They will work closely with the rest of the Digital team, Girlguiding s digital agency and staff across Girlguiding to plan and develop content for Girlguiding s new and exciting digital offering. The post holder will also work closely with colleagues in our editorial, design, filming and photography teams to create and repurpose content for our digital channels, making sure it is of high quality, meets the needs of our users and fits our tone of voice. The post holder will be responsible for championing the needs of Girlguiding s audiences, advising stakeholders across the organisation on processes, standards and best practice and using data and analytics to inform their recommendations. Due to the nature of the work, regular weekend and evening working will be required, at sites outside of London on occasion, for which time off in lieu will be taken. Job Description Basic job details Job Title: Digital Editor (Temporary Contract) Department: Digital and Creative Communications Reports to: Digital Content Manager Directorate: Communications & PR Overall purpose of job Girlguiding is implementing a new digital strategy, a large programme of work which includes a new website and membership system. This role will support the development and implementation of Girlguiding s digital content strategy, including supporting the production, adaptation and migration of content to Girlguiding s new website. This role sits within the Digital and Creative Communications team that comprises the digital and website project team, membership communications, social media, and the editorial and design teams. Main areas of responsibility To support the Digital Content Manager in developing a digital content strategy for Girlguiding, working closely with the rest of the Digital team, Girlguiding s digital agency and staff across Girlguiding to develop and implement a content strategy across Girlguiding s new and exciting digital offering. To champion the need of Girlguiding s audiences, to ensure that content published is high quality, meets the needs of our users, fits our tone of voice and meets editorial standards. To liaise with stakeholders from teams across Girlguiding to coordinate all aspects of content production and migration to the new website and digital channels. To contribute to the implementation of Girlguiding s digital strategy, ensuring a joined up and collaborative approach to delivering Girlguiding s digital vision. To use a Content Management System (CMS) to edit and update existing content in line with our content strategy and Girlguiding tone of voice, retiring content that is no longer current and providing relevant alternatives or redirects. To work closely with colleagues in our design, filming and photography teams to use assets from our current library and to develop on graphics and other visual assets that enhance our digital channels. To use analytics packages and content experiments to measure success and inform decision making. To build strong relationships when working on projects including working in partnership with staff and volunteers, and to resolve queries from the membership regarding online content as required. To work closely with our digital agency on relevant projects. Knowledge and skills

To write, edit and remove digital content in line with our content strategy and industry best practice. To use our Content Management System to add, publish and maintain content, using the correct content templates, industry best practice and our digital style guide. To understand the best ways to optimise content for organic search across different platforms. To support the Digital Product Manager and Digital Content Manager to optimise user journeys for our audiences. To be an internal expert on digital content production, advising stakeholders across Girlguiding on processes, standards and best practice. To use digital analytics packages effectively to produce actionable analysis on our content, and optimise it accordingly. To write, build and send emails through dotmailer to Girlguiding s community of Digital Champions. To understand what is required to meet accessibility (W3C) standards to AA+. To understand the principles of digital development and to write simple HTML effectively for website content styling. To understand the principles of Search Engine Optimisation and best practice SEO techniques. Problem solving To work closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any issues with our content management system or content production processes. To troubleshoot and solve issues that arise with our digital channels and communicate effectively at all times to resolve potential problems. To communicate priorities and changes to senior project stakeholders and other colleagues, notifying stakeholders if deadlines are not met, resolving difficult conversations to a positive outcome, and dealing with member enquiries concerning our digital channels. To handle multiple projects on tight deadlines in a busy and deadline-driven environment. Innovation To lead the way on creating and updating content for our new digital channels, ensuring it is inspiring, engaging and meets the needs of our different audiences. To arrange and host brainstorming sessions, so that new projects are planned with high-quality, creative digital content at the centre. Keep up to date with best practice in digital across the charity and youth sectors, using this knowledge and network to drive new ideas and solutions that meet the needs of Girlguiding s audiences. To commit to regular training and professional development to maintain best-practice knowledge.

Planning & decision-making To support the Digital Content Manager with the management of the content migration workplan for our new website, so that all stakeholders across Girlguiding understand what content will need to be reviewed, updated, migrated and signed-off at what point. To manage content requests from stakeholders throughout Girlguiding, and to make sure these requests are met through our content strategy. To use analytics packages effectively to measure success, report on and update content in line with our organisational KPIs. To review content requirements with stakeholders, working with them to decide the best way to publish content across our digital channels. To project manage small to medium digital projects when required. To make daily decisions on issues that relate to delivery of content on our digital channels. Interpersonal skills To build good working relationships with staff working on digital projects, developing an understanding of their area of work and how it aligns to Girlguiding s strategic objectives. To work well with volunteers, girls and young women and alumni, as well as staff across all Girlguiding sites, with a particular focus on sourcing content from girls and young women for our channels. To be proactive, confident and organised in issuing and responding to requests from multiple parties. To successfully coordinate groups of staff, volunteers and third-parties working together on digital projects, encourage teams with different knowledge and skills to work together to achieve project objectives. People development and leading This role has no direct line management responsibility, however they will be responsible for coordinating and managing groups of stakeholders from teams across Girlguiding. To provide training and support on all areas of content production and making the most of our digital channels. To act as an ambassador for digital throughout Girlguiding. Monetary responsibility: This role has no budget management responsibility. To receive and forward invoices as required. Additional information To undertake occasional evening and weekend working to carry out training and workshops with our members and external audiences for which time off in lieu will be given. To undertake any tasks which are required to fulfil the duties of this role.

Terms & Conditions Contract Type This post is a full-time, 18 month fixed term post. Location You will be based at Girlguiding, Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1W 0PT. However, on occasions you may be required to perform your duties, on a temporary or permanent basis, from any other Girlguiding premises within a reasonable travelling distance of this location. You may be required to travel inside the UK on business of the Charity. Salary/Rate Your salary for the position is 29,708.00 per annum (includes London Weighting). Working Hours Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with one hour for lunch. However, you may be required to work at times other than and in addition to your normal hours of work. Probationary Period The post will be subject to a probationary period of 26 weeks. Medical Check Upon successful appointment, you will be required to complete a medical questionnaire. Employment is subject to satisfactory receipt of a medical check. Holidays 25 days paid holiday per annum plus bank holidays. This increases after two years services as on 1 January to 26 days, and then a further one day for every two years of service, up to a maximum of 30 days for 10 years service and above. Holidays and bank holiday allowance will be pro-rata for part-time and fixed-term employees.

Terms & Conditions Notice Period During the probationary period, the period of notice required is one week by either party, or 12 weeks thereafter.
