Canadian NRP Online Exam Self Registration Instructions Thank you for your interest in the upcoming Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider course. The NRP Provider Course is divided into two components: 1- Completion of the Canadian NRP online exam (see step-by-step instructions p.4-12): This component focuses on self-learning by completing the required readings from the NRP Textbook, the Canadian Addendum, and the Canadian medications table. 2- Completion of an NRP practical course: This component focuses on practical skills and integrates the cognitive, behavioral and technical skills of neonatal resuscitation. To assist you in completing the online exam requirements, please note the following: a. The online exam must be passed within 30 days prior to your NRP practical provider course. b. After completing the exam, you must print off the verification of completion certificate and present it to your Instructor on the day of the course. c. The cost of the exam is $23.50 USD and is paid online using a valid credit card. (Remember to print your receipt.) See your local NRP contact to verify if bulk NRP access codes have been purchased by your facility or health region. d. You must complete all the exam requirements within 14 days of beginning the exam. After 14 days, the online exam becomes invalid and you will need to purchase another access and restart the process. Your original exam fee will not be refunded. e. You must receive a minimum passing score of 80% in each lesson. f. One lesson repeat is allowed; it can be retaken (rewritten) either immediately, or on a different day. If you attempted it twice and were unsuccessful, please contact the Lead Instructor or the program offering the course; you will need to purchase and redo the entire exam. g. There are two levels of NRP which can be taken; the level of NRP you wish to complete will depend on your professional role, regulatory body and institutional requirements. a. The Basic Provider Level consists of lessons 1 4 and lesson 9, and includes a Basic Megacode performed at the course. The Basic Course is the minimum requirement needed to complete an NRP course as a Provider. b. The Advanced Provider Level consists of completion of all 9 lessons and includes an Advanced Megacode performed at the course. * If you are unsure of which Provider level you are to complete and be examined on, talk with your NRP Instructor and confirm the lessons you need to write prior to taking and submitting your exam. Please allow adequate time to complete the exam. The full exam of Lessons 1 9 consists of approximately 110 questions and will take on average 90 minutes to complete. Important note: once you complete Lesson 9, the system will consider you to have completed the exam and will then close out access to you. Do not take Lesson 9 until you have completed ALL OTHER LESSONS for the NRP course level you wish to achieve. Enter your information User ID: Create your own Password: Create your own Hire/Re-Hire date: Today s date Active Date: Today s date NOTE: Write down your User ID and Password, you will need them if you logout of your exam. b. Step 5 a. Now that you have logged on, you will notice your name on the top left hand corner (see red box below). Note: You may enter your discipline and license information; however this step is not mandatory. b. Step 9 You will now be asked for your credit card information. Note: This is the only time you will be able to receive a receipt. If you have lost your receipt, please contact HealthStream Customer Support 1-800-521-0574, selection #3 or by email: nrponline@healthstream.com Step 10 You are now able to access your exam. Good Luck! If you are required to take lessons 1-4 and 9 or 1-9, you must complete the required lessons before submitting lesson 9 or your entire exam will automatically be submitted. Quick Tips 1. Read the Canadian addendum and the Canadian medications table. 2. Print (CTRL +P) or save (CTRL + S) your receipt at time of purchase. 3. You can log-off/log-in to the exam an unlimited number of times. - When you log-off, make sure to complete and submit the lesson that you are working on, or you will lose all of your answers for that lesson. - For subsequent log-ins, you must go to the following website: http://www.healthstream.com/hlc/cps Enter your user ID and password to proceed with login. 4. If you pass a lesson, you are able to see and print the questions that were answered incorrectly. o You must print at the time that the option is presented as you will not be able to re-enter the lesson to print it later. 5.
