Basic cncept f Clud cmputing Abstract:- Mnica R Kabra (Vivekanand Arts Sardar Dalipsingh Cmmerce and science cllege Aurangabad) Clud cmputing is becming a pwerful netwrk architecture t perfrm large-scale and cmplex cmputing. Clud cmputing is the delivery f cmputing as a service rather than a prduct, whereby shared resurces, sftware, and infrmatin are prvided t cmputers and ther devices as a metered service ver a netwrk (the Internet). Histrical backgrund The idea f prviding a centralized cmputing service dates back t the 1960s,when cmputing services were prvided ver a netwrk using mainframe time. sharing technlgy. In 1966, Canadian engineer Duglass Parkhill published his bk The Challenge f the Cmputer Utility [1],in which he describes the idea f cmputing as a public utility ywita centralized cmputing facility t which many remte users cnnect ver netwrks.i n the 1960s, the mainframe time sharing mechanism effectively utilized cmputing resurces and prvided acceptable perfrmance t users; hwever, mainframes were difficult t scale and prvisin up frnt because f increasingly high hardware csts. Accrdingly, users didn t have full cntrl ver the perfrmance f mainframe applicatins because it depended n hw many users utilized the mainframe at a given mment. As such, with the intrductin f persnal cmputers users lved the idea f having full cntrl f their cmputing resurces, even thugh these resurces are nt as effectively utilized What is the clud cmputing?? Clud Cmputing The term clud cmputing itself likely cmes frm netwrk diagrams in which clud shape are used t describe certain types f netwrks, either the Internet r internal netwrks. Sme surces refer t clud cmputing as a set f applicatins delivered as services cmbined with the datacenter hardware and sftware that enables the applicatins. Others say that clud cmputing is a business mdel rather than a specific technlgy r service.

Clud cmputing is the delivery f cmputing services ver the Internet. Clud services allw individuals and businesses t use sftware and hardware that are managed by third parties at remte lcatins. Examples f clud services include nline file strage, scial netwrking sites, webmail, and nline business applicatins. The clud cmputing mdel allws access t infrmatin and cmputer resurces frm anywhere that a netwrk cnnectin is available. Clud cmputing prvides a shared pl f resurces, including data strage space, netwrks, cmputer prcessing pwer, and specialized crprate and user applicatins

Characteristics Clud cmputing has a variety f characteristics, 1.Shared Infrastructure Uses a virtualized sftware mdel, enabling the sharing f physical services, strage, and netwrking capabilities. The clud infrastructure, regardless f deplyment mdel, seeks t make the mst f the available infrastructure acrss a number f users. 2. Dynamic Prvisining Allws fr the prvisin f services based n current demand requirements. This is dne autmatically using sftware autmatin, enabling the expansin and cntractin f service capability, as needed. This dynamic scaling needs t be dne while maintaining high levels f reliability and security. 3. Netwrk Access Needs t be accessed acrss the internet frm a brad range f devices such as PCs, laptps, and mbile devices, using standards-based APIs (fr example, nes based n HTTP). Deplyments f services in the clud include everything frm using business applicatins t the latest applicatin n the newest smartphnes. 4. Managed Metering Uses metering fr managing and ptimizing the service and t prvide reprting and billing infrmatin.in this way, cnsumers are billed fr services accrding t hw much they have actually used during the billing perid. 5. Brad netwrk access: Yur team can access using their smartphnes, tablets, laptps, and ffice cmputers. They can use these devices wherever they are lcated with a simple nline access pint. This mbility is particularly attractive fr businesses s that during business hurs r n ff-times, emplyees can stay n tp f prjects, cntracts, and custmers whether they are n the rad r in the ffice. Brad netwrk access includes private cluds that perate within a cmpany s firewall, public cluds, r a hybrid deplyment. 6. Resurce pling: The clud enables yur emplyees t enter and use data within the business management sftware hsted in the clud at the same time, frm any lcatin, and at any time. This is an attractive feature fr multiple business ffices and field service r sales teams that are usually utside the ffice. 7. Rapid elasticity: If anything, the clud is flexible and scalable t suit yur immediate business needs. Yu can quickly and easily add r remve users, sftware features, and ther resurces. 8. Measured service: Ging back t the affrdable nature f the clud, yu nly pay fr what yu use. Yu and yur clud prvider can measure strage levels, prcessing, bandwidth, and the number f user accunts and yu are billed apprpriately. The amunt f resurces that yu may use can be mnitred and cntrlled frm bth yur side and yur clud prvider s side which prvides transparency. - See mre at:

Clud Deplyment Mdels There are three cmmnly Public Public cluds are made available t the general public by a service prvider wh hsts the clud infrastructure. Generally, public clud prviders like Amazn AWS, Micrsft and Ggle wn and perate the infrastructure and ffer access ver the Internet. With this mdel, custmers have n visibility r cntrl ver where the infrastructure is lcated. It is imprtant t nte that all custmers n public cluds share the same infrastructure pl with limited cnfiguratin, security prtectins and availability variances.public Clud custmers benefit frm ecnmies f scale, because infrastructure csts are spread acrss all users, allwing each individual client t perate n a lwcst, pay-as-yu-g mdel. Anther advantage f public clud infrastructures is that they are typically larger in scale than an in-huse enterprise clud, which prvides clients with seamless, n-demand scalability. These cluds ffer the greatest level f efficiency in shared resurces; hwever, they are als mre vulnerable than private cluds.

A public clud is the bvius chice when: Private Yur standardized wrklad fr applicatins is used by lts f peple, such as e- mail. Yu need t test and develp applicatin cde. Yu need incremental capacity (the ability t add cmpute resurces fr peak times). Yu re ding cllabratin prjects. Private clud is clud infrastructure dedicated t a particular rganizatin. Private cluds allw businesses t hst applicatins in the clud, while addressing cncerns regarding data security and cntrl, which is ften lacking in a public clud envirnment. It is nt shared with ther rganizatins, whether managed internally r by a third-party, and it can be hsted internally r externally. There are tw variatins f private cluds: On-Premise Private Clud: This type f clud is hsted within an rganizatin s wn facility. A businesses IT department wuld incur the capital and peratinal csts fr the physical resurces with this mdel. On-Premise Private Cluds are best used fr applicatins that require cmplete cntrl and cnfigurability f the infrastructure and security. Externally Hsted Private Clud: Externally hsted private cluds are als exclusively used by ne rganizatin, but are hsted by a third party specializing in clud infrastructure. The service prvider facilitates an exclusive clud envirnment with full guarantee f privacy. This frmat is recmmended fr rganizatins that prefer nt t use a public clud infrastructure due t the risks assciated with the sharing f physical resurces. Undertaking a private clud prject requires a significant level and degree f engagement t virtualize the business envirnment, and it will require the rganizatin t reevaluate decisins abut existing resurces. Private cluds are mre expensive but als mre secure when cmpared t public cluds. An Inf-Tech survey shws that 76% f IT decisin-makers will fcus exclusively n the private clud, as these cluds ffer the greatest level f security and cntrl.

When is a Private Clud fr yu? Yu need data svereignty but want clud efficiencies Yu want cnsistency acrss services Yu have mre server capacity than yur rganizatin can use Yur data center must becme mre efficient Yu want t prvide private clud services Hybrid Hybrid Cluds are a cmpsitin f tw r mre cluds (private, cmmunity r public) that remain unique entities but are bund tgether ffering the advantages f multiple deplyment mdels. In a hybrid clud, yu can leverage third party clud prviders in either a full r partial manner; increasing the flexibility f cmputing. Augmenting a traditinal private clud with the resurces f a public clud can be used t manage any unexpected surges in wrklad. Hybrid clud architecture requires bth n-premise resurces and ff-site server based clud infrastructure. By spreading things ut ver a hybrid clud, yu keep each aspect f yur business in the mst efficient envirnment pssible. The dwnside is that yu have t keep track f multiple clud security platfrms and ensure that all aspects f yur business can cmmunicate with each ther. Here are a cuple f situatins where a hybrid envirnment is best: Yur cmpany wants t use a SaaS applicatin but is cncerned abut security. Yur cmpany ffers services that are tailred fr different vertical markets. Yu can use a public clud t interact with the clients but keep their data secured within a private clud. Yu can prvide public clud t yur custmers while using a private clud fr internal IT. Cmmunity A cmmunity clud is a is a multi-tenant clud service mdel that is shared amng several r rganizatins and that is gverned, managed and secured cmmnly by all the participating rganizatins r a third party managed service prvider.

Cmmunity cluds are a hybrid frm f private cluds built and perated specifically fr a targeted grup. These cmmunities have similar clud requirements and their ultimate gal is t wrk tgether t achieve their business bjectives. The gal f cmmunity cluds is t have participating rganizatins realize the benefits f a public clud with the added level f privacy, security, and plicy cmpliance usually assciated with a private clud. Cmmunity cluds can be either n-premise r ff-premise. Here are a cuple f situatins where a cmmunity clud envirnment is best: Gvernment rganizatins within a state that need t share resures A private HIPAA cmpliant clud fr a grup f hspitals r clinics Telc cmmunity clud fr telc DR t meet specific FCC regulatins Clud cmputing is abut shared IT infrastructure r the utsurcing f a cmpany's technlgy. It is essential t examine yur current IT infrastructure, usage and needs t determine which type f clud cmputing can help yu best achieve yur gals. Simply, the clud is nt ne cncrete term, but rather a metaphr fr a glbal netwrk and hw t best utilize its advantages depends n yur individual clud fcus. TYPES OF CLOUD PROVIDERS

A. Sftware as a Service (SaaS) SaaS clients rent usage f applicatins running within the Cluds prvider infrastructure, fr example SalesFrce. The applicatins are typically ffered t the clients via the Internet and are managed cmpletely by the Clud prvider. That means that theadministratin f these services such as updating and patchingare in the prviders respnsibility. B. Platfrm as a Service (PaaS) PaaS [4]Clud prviders ffer an applicatin platfrm asa service, fr exampleggle App Engine. This enables clients t deply custm sftware using the tls and prgramming languages ffered by the prvider. Clientshave cntrl ver the deplyed applicatins and envirnment -related settings. As with SaaS,the management f the underlying infrastructure lies within the respnsibility f the prvider. C. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) IaaS [4]delivers hardware resurces such as CPU, disk space r netwrkcmpnents as a service. These resurces are usually delivered as a virtualizatin platfrm by the Clud prvider and can be accessed acrss the Internet by the client. The client has full cntrl f the Virtualizedplatfrm and is nt respnsible fr managing the underlying infrastructure. Benefits f using clud cmputing fr management f public recrds. (Limited t psitives - simple bullet pints) (Angie) 1. cst savings 2. Ptentially quicker deplyment time (depending upn the service yu are seeking) 3. Ability f agency staff t fcus n ther missin critical tasks 4. Remte access frm anywhere, anytime 5. Ptential increase in prductivity 6. Access t lwer cst applicatins/services with imprved functinality that might nt have been accessible, particularly fr smaller agencies. (take advantage f ecnmies f scales.)

Cnclusin Clud cmputing is a pwerful new abstractin fr large scale data prcessing systems which is scalable, reliable and available. In clud cmputing, there are large self-managed server pls available which reduces the verhead and eliminates management headache. Clud cmputing services can als grw and shrink accrding t need. Clud cmputing is particularly valuable t small and medium businesses, where effective and affrdable IT tls are critical t helping them becme mre prductive withut spending lts f mney n in-huse resurces and technical equipment. Als it is a new emerging architecture needed t expand the Internet t becme the cmputing platfrm f the future. Refference:- [1] PARKHILL, D. The Challenge f the Cmputer Utility.
