We reported in the June, 2015 Chamber newsletter that Starbucks had requested a waiver to the City s ordinance that establishes the number of parking spaces. Starbucks is only required to have 15 parking spaces, but they are requesting 25 spaces. Photo date July 31, 2015 Capital Wright Distribution Center A posting in the December 11, 2014 issue of the Austin Business Journal noted that Capital Beverage Company and Wright Distributing signed a purchase agreement with Capital Beverage Company acquiring Wright Distributing with a name change to Capital Wright Distributing. With the agreement, the company has become the largest beer distributor in the Austin area and will control almost 70% of the central Texas beer market. Company representatives had originally considered a site within the Manor city limits located at the northern corner of Highway 290 East and FM 973. Shadow Glen residents expressed concerns about the noise and traffic levels near their homes. Instead, Capital-Wright purchased 40 acres of property near East Parmer Lane and SH 130 which is in the City of Austin to construct a 500,000 square foot distribution center and company headquarters. The new site will reduce the number of 8 warehouses that Capital Beverage and Wright Beverage had maintained as separate companies. Warehouses will still be maintained in Bastrop and New Braunfels. Once fully operational, the distribution center will have 450 employees. Photo date July 31,201
