Key Projects Executed COLA/IGES Weather Forecasting Model: In 2002, BKC was the first company in India to run a Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) model over the Indian region for validation purposes. BKC was technically supported by COLA (USA) & Institute of Global Science Society, USA to run their ETA/AVN NWP model on an operational basis. NASA/NOAA Goddard Space Flight Centre/GST-System Administration: A Satellite Data Exchange Centre was established for exchange of INSAT real-time data with GOES real-time data between India and USA. BKC was awarded the contract to supply and establish the Indian site of the Satellite Data Exchange center, with engineers from NASA, NOAA, & IMD. NASA appointed BKC as System Administrator for the Indian site for 5 years. Digital Meteorological Data Dissemination : 20 stations for Indian Air Force, 16 stations for Indian Navy, 2 stations for ITR-DRDO HRIT/LRIT Satellite Data Transmission & reception stations (nearly 100 stations) across India and neighboring countries including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives. Satellite Imagery Reception and Video Display System (SIRAVDS) for 53 Indian Air Force stations. Automatic Message Switching System systems at 4 major airports (Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai) in India; Online Flight Briefing System operational at Delhi and Chennai airports. RADAR : X- Band dual polarization Doppler Mobile Weather Radar for IITM, Pune; S-Band Doppler Weather Radar at Integrated Test Range, Chandipore (under execution). SOLAR: Solar Weather monitoring stations installed over 50 sites in India. Sample case studies: Analysis of meteorological parameters including wind gust for insurance claims for damaged panels; Analysis of local environmental conditions to account for measured irradiance; Ground-truthing of satellite data; Seasonal variation in irradiance and advisory on panel Tilt Angles.
