IS A GOOD CLIMATE A LUXURY? Most people spend a large part of their lives in closed rooms. Where this is the case, outside air is locked out together with the inclement weather. Air conditioning is therefore installed where many people share a limited volume of air. For good reasons, because good room climate conditions are not a luxury but an essential fact of life, indispensable for performance and well-being. What are the characteristics of a good room climate? First of all a pleasant temperature to avoid sweating or shivering, but that alone is not enough! Most people are not aware of how important the right humidity of the air is for people. Excessively dry air irritates the mucous membranes. High humidity gives an oppressive feeling, even if the temperature is right. Apart from the condition of the air, its quality also plays an important role. For example, unpleasant smells and noxious substances (such as smoke and CO 2 ) may be present in any building. The only solution is to supply an appropriate proportion of fresh air to the rooms in order to reduce the concentrations to an acceptable level. Heat recovery from return air, for example in department stores, banks and other high traffic buildings with high internal heat loads, often makes reheating of outside air unnecessary. Furthermore, with Resolair comfort air conditioning units cooling recovery is possible and some of the indoor air humidity can also be recovered a further plus point for comfort. Thermal energy accumulators The readily accessible thermal energy accumulators contain high capacity heat storage mass and are easily cleaned. They take up thermal energy very quickly and release it just as quickly to cold air. The temperature efficiency achieved is greater than 90 %. 4
That s how it works: Resolair regenerative energy transformer The unit contains two heat packets with highly sensitive accumulator mass, through which the outside and exhaust air are transported alternately. The accumulator mass is able to capture heat from a warm air flow very rapidly and redeliver this just as rapidly to a cold air flow. Due to the constant exchange of outside air and exhaust air in the accumulators, there is a high recovery of humidity. Cycle 1 In cycle 1 the motor-driven flap system channels the return air via accumulator 1 and heats this up. At the same time cold outside air flows through accumulator 2, in which it is heated up together with the heat stored in the previous cycle. Cycle 2 In cycle 2 the outside air is heated up using the heat stored in accumulator 1. The return air then heats up the cooled accumulator 2 and prepares the next cycle. Cycle 1 Cycle 2 For the removal of higher internal heat loads at high outside air temperatures the integrated compression refrigerating machine is switched on for series 66 and 68. return air, outside air, supply air, exhaust air Resolair units from series 65 are specifically used in industrial and commercial buildings. For this type of unit the motor-driven flap system is located in the center of the unit. The air flow is channelled through the flap system in 2 cycles. As a result of the alternating admission of the heat packets, the heat of the return air is almost completely transferred to the cold outside air. 5
