2 2 Smart control Smart control 3 Savings have seldom felt so good. Comfort Sustainability Efficiency With Climotion, you can achieve optimized climate control in your buildings. We create a very comfortable atmosphere based on specific individual room requirements while simultaneously reducing energy costs by up to 30 percent on average. Benefit from Climotion in three ways: Energy consumption is lowered, comfort is increased and CO 2 emissions are reduced noticeably. Be one step ahead! Our innovative control for HVAC systems improves room comfort and increases energy efficiency. Thanks to intelligent measurement and control technology based on carefully adjusted sensors, air is distributed throughout the entire room. The comfortable result is a uniform temperature distribution without air layers. High temperatures under the ceiling created by rising air no longer occur. Rapid air movement in the vicinity of windows and exterior walls is not felt either. With Climotion you quickly create a comfortable atmosphere in your building without any changes to the building s substance while simultaneously realizing significant energy savings. It s simple but effective! The benefits are in the air: u Energy cost savings of 30 percent on average, depending on the building up to 70 percent are possible u Reduction of CO 2 emissions u Comfortable and healthy room climate u Low investment for retrofitting u Lower construction costs for new buildings u Greater architectural design freedom u Lower maintenance and repair costs u Optimal mixing of incoming air with room air u No pockets with high levels of humidity and pollutants
3 4 Better climate by Climotion Better climate by Climotion 5 The perfect working environment begins with the perfect room climate. Whether a modern office building, production facility, indoor swimming pool or cultural facility regardless of the building concerned, the HVAC system plays an increasingly important role. At all times of the year, it provides comfortable temperatures despite the weather, internal heat generation (via body heat and electrical equipment) and makes it pleasant to stay in buildings. Furthermore, a good building climate has a beneficial effect not only on the occupants, but also on the building s substance, the useful life of exhibits, equipment, machines and the quality of products. Energy efficiency in the future. Large areas of commercial buildings are already air-conditioned today and the trend is growing. Existing buildings are being retrofitted and new buildings without air-conditioning and ventilation systems are the exception. Studies project a steady increase in the energy demand for air-conditioning and ventilation in commercial buildings; this alone will result in a major increase in CO 2 emissions. Owners face the challenge of operating buildings as efficiently as possible, keeping costs for operation and energy low and satisfying the comfort requirements of the building s occupants. This is where our innovative Climotion control technology helps. In addition to significant energy cost savings, this technology simultaneously ensures a uniform temperature distribution without the adverse aspects of drafts. 15 kg A person breathes approx. 15 kg of air daily, 90 percent of it in closed rooms. After all, we spend the majority of our lives in buildings. Whether we feel comfortable there and would actually like to stay there for an extended period thus ultimately depends on the climatic conditions experienced.
4 6 Reduce consumption, increase comfort Reduce consumption, increase comfort 7 No. 1 Buildings are the number 1 energy consumer since they account for 30 percent of the world s demand for energy. With Climotion, we achieve, on average, energy cost savings of 40 percent and in this way contribute to the energy efficiency of buildings. Optimal conditions in every corner. 5 8 So easy: Climotion So easy: Climotion 9 Our secret. The right control. It has been verified that a good climate in the room increases satisfaction and performance. An optimal temperature and a low CO 2 level also have a beneficial effect on health. Compared to conventional ventilation systems, the use of Climotion technology reduces energy costs by, on average, 30 percent by saving the energy used to operate HVAC systems and to heat or cool fresh air. The better mixing of incoming air and room air allows introduction of air with a greater temperature spread into the room. This means that overall a smaller amount of air is needed to introduce the same amount of energy into the room. For example, decreasing the volumetric air flow by one-half reduces pressure drops in the entire HVAC system to one-quarter and the power consumption of fans to one-eighth of the previous costs. In addition, temperature stratification in the room is minimized to a difference of max. 1 K over a room height of 10 meters. Transmission heat loss resulting from high temperatures at the ceiling in the summer or cold regions near the floor in the winter are eliminated entirely. This reduces the amount of heat energy needed and assures uniform, comfortable temperatures throughout the room. The desired climate is quickly achieved in the room through continuous adjustment. Unnecessary overshoot of actual values is prevented, this reduces the number of heating and cooling cycles needed. This means that the heating and cooling capacities needed can be reduced, which extends the life of the HVAC system. Saving energy. Improving comfort. Building owners benefit additionally from lower maintenance costs. Climotion reduces the overall amount of recirculated air, filters need to be replaced, registers cleaned and sensors checked less frequently. Easily retrofitted without great expense. Climotion can be retrofitted to all HVAC systems Regardless of the building, a modern HVAC system must satisfy two critical requirements today. On the one hand, it must provide a comfortable room climate throughout the year; on the other, it must contribute to energy efficiency. With its patented control algorithm for central HVAC systems, Climotion optimizes energy costs and increases the satisfaction of employees with the climate control in buildings. One system, but many benefits for you. By improving the control of temperature, humidity and air quality parameters in conjunction with control on the basis of air pressure, a comfortable and fully programmable climate can be achieved at all times. Good fresh air reaches every corner of the room, temperatures remain constant and are perceived as comfortable everywhere. Pockets of pollution are prevented, and cold air flows along glass façades are reduced significantly. Moreover, exterior walls no longer feel as cold and uncomfortable air drafts are eliminated. In addition, the noise that is so common with conventional air-conditioning systems is reduced. Climotion climate control benefits not only people, but also sensitive exhibits, machines and equipment. They are uniformly surrounded with the required air temperature and humidity, which protects them from damage. that incorporate outside air. Depending on their suitability, existing volumetric flow controllers may continue to be used or they may be replaced by air dampers to implement the control strategy. Existing sensors are usedand missing sensors needed for measuring air quality, humidity, temperature and pressure are added. Finally, the new control is loaded into the the HVAC system s existing controller and programmed.
6 10 Technical requirements Technical requirements 11 It all depends on the right mixture. 70 % Our Innovative duct system achieves energy savings of up to 70 percent in existing buildings and reduces the construction costs for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) in new buildings. How intelligent efficiency can be the Climotion duct system. The Climotion duct system was developed to provide efficient and comfortable air conditioning of new buildings. It makes HVAC energy savings of up to 70 percent possible. With this system, the optimal air volume for the building is provided by a central system through two ducts, neither of which is strictly a hot air or cold air duct. The air flow rates and temperatures are determined on an as-needed basis for both ducts and are adjusted continuously. Here, the two supply air ducts have a ratio of ⅓ to ⅔. When the heating is on, for instance, the entire building is supplied by only one duct or both ducts, depending on the load. When full-load cooling is needed, both ducts supply cool air; for partial-load cooling, air is supplied by either the ⅓-duct or the ⅔-duct. For instance, both ducts are used for cooling in the summer and heating in the winter, in transitional seasons, there is either a warm-air duct or a cool-air duct. When there are different temperatures in the ducts, fresh air is supplied to each of the definedroom zones via a continuous damper only by the duct that is the most appropriate for achieving the value set for the desired room temperature. If only little heating or cooling is needed, the damper switches to the small duct. As the need drops, one duct can be closed completely. Achieve more with less. Our 2-duct system offers numerous advantages over a conventional 1-duct system with an additive heating and cooling system. Neither separate heating and cooling water systems nor additive heating and cooling components are needed in the building. This translates not only into lower HVAC investment costs in the building, but also lower maintenance and operating costs. In addition, safety and security are increased, since water damage from leaks is a thing of the past. By eliminating radiators and ceiling panels, you gain space for more efficient utilization.
