. Sigmar Recruitment Salary Guide 2016 Thoughts on the Market 2016 Pension Admin - Within the life assurance market there has been a significant increase in demand for pension administrators and consultants, particularly with the larger brokers in the market. Pension administrators with end-to-end experience in either DB or DC schemes are being highly sought after. With the phase-out of many defined benefit schemes, there has been higher demand for individuals specific to this. Underwriting - Medical underwriters, especially with ACII and DLDU qualifications, have been in high demand with leading players in the market. There has been flexibility in terms of roles offered on a part-time basis in order to attract talent. Business Admin - There has been steady demand for high quality administrators to deal with new and existing business. Many of these roles have been offered initially on a contract basis however many have been made into permanent staff upon completion of contracts. Claims - We are now seeing a closer shift towards the equilibrium of the supply and demand of claims professionals. While demand is still especially high, some of the larger insurance firms have been growing their claims teams with a particular demand for technical claims specialists. Actuaries - As always both qualified and part-qualified actuary candidates are in high demand. Apart from the general and life assurance businesses we have seen strong demand for qualified actuaries with consultancy organisations who are continuing to build their actuarial service offering. This is a trend we expect to continue throughout 2016. Data Analytics - Data analytics and data management has become a significant feature for insurance businesses in 2015. The insights which can be gained and business decisions made from having mechanisms to extract data, can no longer be over looked. There has been a significant increase in demand for individuals with mathematical/computer science backgrounds capable of extracting data, working with it and putting it into report form for management review. We see this as a major growth area for 2016. Underwriting - Demand for underwriters across commercial and personal lines has remained steady. Brokers - There has been an increased demand for strong broker development candidates, keeping in line with the resurgence of the broker market. Individuals with strong account management and sales experience have seen a steady increase in opportunities available. With many brokers growing their head counts for the first time in a number of years, they are looking for candidates who can spot opportunity and help develop business. Individuals with a proven track record of this have been found to command higher salaries. Heaviest demand has been placed on commercial account execs from both international and SME brokers. Reinsurance - The majority of positions that are arising within reinsurance are either on the quantitative side or account management. We have also seen an increase in mid-level underwriting positions. Get in touch with our team by emailing insurance@sigmar.ie or call us on +353 1 4744600.
