Economically weaker section avail various charitable schemes of this hospital. M. K. Raghavan Memorial Multi Speciality Wing is the new addition to the hospital. This is the authorised hospital for over 50 public and private sector undertakings, insurance companies and other companies of repute. Government of India has approved Gautham Hospital for the treatment of Central Govt. Employees & their families. Indian Nursing Council has accorded sanction for the course. COURSE - This integrated course covering General Nursing and Midwifery is of 3½ years duration. I. ELIGIBILITY 1. The candidate should be resident of Kerala state. 2. Should have passed +2 examination or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects with minimum of 45% marks. 3. The applicant should not be less than 17 years or more than 27 years of age as on 1 st June... Usual relaxation for S.C./ST./O.B.C. is applicable. 4. Applicant should be physically sound and free from contagious diseases. II. APPLICATION 1. Application form can be obtained from the office on payment of Rs. 100/- by cash or Rs.140/- by M.O. or D.D. by post. 2. Attested copies of certificates and documents in support of age and qualification should be attached with the application. Only S.S.L.C. certificate will be considered for proof of age. 3. Two conduct certificates - one from the principal of the institution the candidate last studied and one from a person holding a responsible position-should be attached with the application
4. Applications are issued in duplicate. The original should be addressed to "The Principal, Gautham School of Nursing, Panayappally, Kochi - 682 005" and the duplicate should be sent to "The Registrar, Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council, Red - cross Road, Thiruvananthapuram - 35". 5. Both the applications should be accompanied by attested true copies of certificates. 6. Applications should be sent by Regd. Post. 7. Defective and incomplete applications will not be accepted. 8. Last date for receiving applications is... III. SELECTIONS 1. Selection will be done through interview. 2. Merit is the sole base for selection. Merit indicator shall be marks obtained by the candidate in Physics, Chemistry & Biology in plus two course. 3. A selection board shall be constituted and the members of the Board will essentially be (a) A Nominee of the Nursing Council, (b) Principal of the School, (c) Chief Medical Officer of the hospital, (d) Nursing Supdt. (e) A representative of the M. K. Raghavan Memorial Public Charitable Trust. IV. BOND Selected candidates are required to execute a bond to serve the institution for a period of one year on successful completion of the course Or to pay Rupees One Lakh on forfeiture. The management will fix the stipend if any to be paid to such students. The bond should be executed prior to the date of admission. Besides, the management collects a fixed caution deposit of Rs. 2500/- which shall be released on successful completion of the bond period of services. Any damage or loss of articles made by the student will be deducted from the caution deposit. The bond period is liable for extension in case of absence due to sickness and / or professional incompetence or negligence. V. COMMENCEMENT The course will commence on 1 st working day of October. VI. ACCOMMODATION VII. LEAVE The selected candidates should compulsorily reside in the hostel arranged by the management. The students shall be eligible for ten days sick leave and thirty days annual vacation. Any absence more than this will have to be made up before the completion of the course. Additional leave will not be granted. VIII DISCIPLINE On completion of first three months there will be an examination. After the examination if anyone is found lacking in aptitude or does not show satisfactory progress in studies or found physically unfit to continue the studies shall be dismissed. A student will also be liable for dismissal for misconduct, indiscipline or repeated neglect of duty.

The amount of fees for the subsequent years will be collected each year as per rules. Mess will be arranged by the management on actual cost basis to be shared equally by students. Mess fee however will have to be paid at the school office on 1st Saturday of every English Calendar Month. Delayed payment upto 15 days will be allowed on payment of Rs. 50/- as penalty. Uniforms, text books, transportation charges, expenses for Community Nursing, Field work, other clinical experience and personal expenses like clothing, toiletries, washing and other incidental expenses are to be borne by the students. X. EXAMINATION Examination will be conducted by the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council every year who will issue the diploma which will qualify a student for registration. Examination fee will be collected as per Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council Stipulation. Fee once paid is not refundable under any circumstances. XI. GENERAL GUIDANCE Selected candidates are required to bring the following articles at the time of boarding. 1. Necessary dresses. 2. Sufficient under-wear, linen, bath towels, handkerchiefs, house-coats etc. 3. Two pairs of slippers. 4. One umbrella, one wrist watch with second indicator, one pair of small scissors and one torch 5. Two coloured bed-sheets and two pillow covers. 6. Mattress and pillows. 7. Soap and other toilet articles. 8. Fountain pens, lead pencils, colour pencils, foot ruler, eraser, note books(7 numbers) 9. Cloth hanger, buckets & mugs.
10. Mosquito net 11. One table spoon, plate, quarter plate, tumbler of stainless steel and Tiffin box. 12. One ordinary diary and one pocket size diary. 13. Passport size photograph (4 nos.) & Stamp size photograph (2 Nos) 14. One Kerala set saree with blouse. IMPORTANT Students should not bring any jewellery or any valuables, The school does not take any responsibility for theft or loss of valuables including jewellery. Using of mobile phone is not permitted. XII. No stipend will be paid to the students during the period of course. XIII. SPECIAL NOTE- 1. Visitors will be permitted in the hostel only with express consent of the parents. 2. Mess Fee will be collected every month. 3. Students will be responsible to replace/compensate the items or equipment damaged, lost or broken. 4. Any shortage in attendance will be made good by further extension of course duration as applicable. 5. If student leaves before completion of the course, for any reason, the student will be liable to pay the balance fees for the entire course along with a penalty of Rs.2000/- 6. Fee once paid is not refundable at any cost. 7. The students will be subject to dismissal at any time for misconduct & professional incompetence or negligence. XIV. ALTERATIONS & AMENDMENTS The management reserves the unquestionable right of amending, altering, adding or deleting any provisions of the prospectus including enhancing the fees or amending any other rules, and such decisions taken by the management shall be binding on everybody concerned. Interpretations of any of the provisions of the prospectus shall also rest with the management and the decision of the management with regard to such interpretation shall be binding on everybody concerned.
