The purpose of this document is to outline the steps required to prepare your computer to access the financial systems RU-VPN Individuals using the academic subnet at the university or those accessing the financial systems off campus will require RU-VPN. This is additional software that allows you to securely access the systems. A quick method of testing whether you need RU VPN: open a browse and go to www.ryerson.ca/ogf, click on Oracle or Markview link. If you receive the message page cannot be displayed you will need RU-VPN to access the financial system. To do this, please contact CCS at x6806 Or go to the CCS website http://www.ryerson.ca/ccs/connecting/secure/ru-vpn/index.html Once RU-VPN is installed, always make sure you run it as an administrator and that the VPN icon on the bottom right is Green. Red and Yellow means it s not connected properly. Make sure VPN icon is green..
RECOMMENDED BROWSERS AND BROWSER SETTINGS Please note that the recommended browser for both Oracle Financials and Markview is Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox The Financial System (e.g.) Oracle runs on Mozilla Firefox. If the Java version that is installed on your pc is not current the browser will prompt you to download the current version. Pop-Up blockers may stay on but just a reminder to allow the pop-ups when using the financial system for the general ledger for example. Pop-Up Blocker From within Firefox select the menu option TOOLS > OPTIONS. Select the CONTENT tab from the options window Make sure BLOCK POP-UP WINDOWS is not checked off Security Settings Choose the SECURITY tab Single click on the top EXCEPTIONS button In the Address of website field enter the following: https://roald.admin.ryerson.ca Click the ALLOW button Click the CLOSE button within the Options window click the OK button
Internet Explorer Turn Off pop-up blockers Make sure all pop-up blockers are turned off on your browser and any other applications E.g. Google toolbar, yahoo toolbar Adjust ActiveX controls and plug-ins Open an internet explorer page, from the menu bar, select Tools Internet Options The Internet Options form will appear. Select the Security tab and click on the Custom Level button:

DOWNLOADS File download ENABLE Font download - ENABLE SCRIPTING Enable XSS filter DISABLE Note: For IE9 & IE10 there maybe misalignment on the browser wording (e.g. words will be overlapping) this is due to your compatibility mode. 1. From the browser menu select Tools -> Compatibility View Settings 2. In the Add this Website field enter your domain information as appropriate (e.g. oracle.com) 3. Click the Add button 4. Close the Compatibility View Settings window Once you are done, click on OK. Add trusted sites In the Internet Options form Tools Internet Options, select the Trusted Sites Icon then click on the Sites button. and Uncheck Required server verification (https for all sites in this zone) Under Add this Web site to the zone, type in https://roald.admin.ryerson.ca then click on Add CHROME Disclaimer: Chrome is not supported for Oracle but will work with the Add-In. If you want to check to see if it was installed, open chrome, go to your settings Extensions and you ll be able to see it, click on Verify JAVA Version The first time a user log into the Financial System (e.g. Oracle) the system will prompt the user to download the correct Java version. The recommended and tested Java versions are Java 7 Update 45, 51, 67 and 71. To avoid java from automatically downloading and installing set the following options: Navigate to your control panel from the start menu. When the control panel opens double click to open the Java control panel.
The settings should be set as indicated above. Note: Java 8 has not been certified with Oracle Applications. If your Java has been updated to Java 8 you may encounter difficulties accessing the general ledger forms.
VERIFY ADOBE FLASH PLAYER VERSION Adobe Flash Player Plugin and Adobe Flash Player Active X are both required to run Markview. Check your versions of the Adobe players by selecting START MENU > CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS AND FEATURES. The programs are listed in alphabetical order A-Z. If either of these components are missing MarkView will not display any images. Both versions are available for free download at: https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html. The recommended versions are Adobe Flash Player 15 Plugin & Adobe Flash Player 15 Active X. MARKVIEW 8 System Setup and Requirements STEP 1: Verify browser version The recommended browser for MarkView Imaging is Mozilla Firefox. Check your version of Firefox by opening the browser and selecting HELP > ABOUT FIREFOX. The pop-up will notify you if your version is up to date. Lower versions of Firefox should be upgraded. Firefox is available for download from the Mozilla web site (www.mozilla.org/en-us/). Choose the FREE DOWNLOAD button from the bottom of the page The File Download window appears - select SAVE From the SAVE IN drop down menu choose DESKTOP Click on SAVE When the download completes close all applications From the desktop DOUBLE CLICK on the FIREFOX.EXE file Follow the prompts to install Firefox
