SCHOLARSHIPS!!! Check out the list on Naviance under Documents, and in the Scholarship folder, apply for OSAC scholarships, and also check-out scholarships available at the school you will be attending. Apply for housing, if applicable, as you'll want to have your name on the housing list as soon as possible. You do not have to wait until you are accepted to apply for housing. If possible, visit any colleges to which you are accepted before making your final decision. 3

Scholarships!!! Don t be overwhelmed by your scholarships search! Follow these easy instructions to learn about opportunities to apply for free money (that means you don t need to pay the money back!) to help pay your college tuition. In Naviance/Family Connection: Local scholarships in the Portland and Clackamas area are listed on the home page, in the document library, called Scholarship Applications. These are all scholarships that are only open to students in our local area, and are not listed on national search websites for students outside the Portland area. These are great to apply for because you are not competing against students outside of our area! Broader scholarship searches can be explored through websites and other search engines. We have listed several of them in the document library (from the home page) titled Scholarship Websites. They are categorized to help organize your scholarship search. Want to go national in your search for free money? Use the National Scholarship Search option to see what money you might qualify for on a national basis. You can find this search tool under the Colleges tab, Scholarships and Money section. OSAC Scholarship Application: This application is the one-stop shopping for all the Oregon-based scholarships. There is over $18 million in FREE scholarship money to help pay those college costs! They ve streamlined the process to help minimize the application process. Check it out at https://app.oregonstudentaid.gov/catalog/default.aspx. The first deadline is Feb 16th, so go online now to start your application. If you need a transcript to submit with your OSAC application, you may fill out a transcript request form in the Counseling office and Carrie Madlem, the registrar, would be happy to either send you an unofficial copy electronically, or you can have her send the transcript directly to OSAC. Clackamas High School scholarships (you really only have to compete with your fellow graduating seniors!) will be posted in March in the local Scholarship Application section of Naviance. We ll remind you when we get closer to that time, but wanted you to know we will have those opportunities for you as well. 4

Northwest Youth Careers Expo March 17, 2015 9:00 am 2:00 pm Oregon Convention Center Portland, Oregon Click here: http://www.portlandworkforcealliance.org/ To view the Expo website. For students grades 9-12. Registration is due by March 6, 2015. Fax or Mail to Stephanie Kennedy, Event Manager, call: 503-626-8197, or fax: 503-626-3191. Email: skennedy@portlandworkforcealliance.org NW YOUTH CAREERS EXPO An annual event that is the capstone of PWA s work, the Expo shows students the amazing diversity of career opportunities in our region and the skills needed to pursue those jobs. In 2014, the Expo attracted more than 5,000 students from about 65 high schools. Over 125 exhibitors and many of Oregon s best companies participated, representing sectors including health care, business, communications, manufacturing, construction, energy, education and government. More than 100 volunteers organized by the Portland & Southwest Washington Human Resources Associations and the Oregon Staffing Association conducted 1,200-plus mock interviews to help students sharpen their interviewing skills. 5

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have not met with your counselor for a Senior Interview yet, schedule an appointment for a time that works for you. The best time to schedule is during your free period! Also, if you are in danger of failing a class that is a requirement to graduate, please ask your counselor about credit recovery options that may be available to you at CHS, CCC, or MHCC. Space is filling up quickly. Don t miss your chance. 6
