SUMMER ORIENTATION PROGRAMME (SOP) The SOP is an integra part of the programme. It provides background information to the basic subjects needed to prepare participants for the chaenges of the course oad and case method of teaching. Successfu competion of the SOP is a prerequisite for the reguar programme. 08 Weekend Programme Project A participants work on a project which requires them to address an issue of significant importance to their organisation. The approach is that of a management consutancy assignment. A possibe topic covers: 1. Carrying out a strategic review of an organisation and its environment 2. Identifying a major issue/probem faced by the organisation 3. Coming up with aternative soutions for addressing it The project requires candidates to expore key facets of the issue and recommend aternative soutions. The study demonstrates awareness of reevant theoretica concepts, toos and techniques. It measures the candidates abiity to appy the most appropriate of these concepts to the organisationa probem being studied. To the advantage of the current empoyer and candidate, the project is usuay identified by the current empoyer (cient) of the candidate and a facuty advisor is attached for guidance and counseing. The project, hence, is a rea ife test of the candidates earning during the programme and their abiity to appy the reevant skis and techniques. Residence at the REDC is a singe room accommodation equipped with STD/ISD services aong with computing faciities in the aocated discussion rooms for EMBA participants. A superstore, cafeterias and medica emergency services are a present on campus.

12 Weekend Programme Admission Criteria In order to be eigibe to appy for admission, appicants need to fufi the minimum eigibiity criteria. However, fufiment of these criteria does not guarantee admission into LUMS. Admission to the programme is based entirey on merit. The basic poicy of the Admissions Committee of the Sueman Dawood Schoo of Business is to seect those candidates whose inteectua capacity, manageria potentia and persona characteristics best quaify them to pursue careers in management. Appicants wi be assessed on the foowing criteria: Minimum of sixteen years of education eading to a Master s or Bacheor s* degree from a university recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan Performance in the GMAT (no other admission test scores are vaid) at east 6 years of fu time work experience Two etters of recommendation Interview performance * Candidates hoding a Bacheor s degree of ess than four years duration wi be required to produce an equivaence certificate of competion of 16 years of education issued by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. Decisions on admission are made after carefu evauation of a appications. Evauation for interview ca is carried out based on a combination of factors such as academic track record, performance in GMAT and work experience. The Admissions Office wi review appications to ensure requirements are being met. Shortisted candidates wi be caed in for an interview, after which the fina decision wi be taken. Admission Test for Appicants are required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) in order to be considered for admission. Ony GMAT scores are vaid and, hence, appicants with previous LMAT scores need to take the GMAT. GMAT is offered as a computer adaptive test wordwide. Apart from officia test scores that LUMS wi require directy from Educationa Testing Service (ETS), USA, appicants must submit or mai a copy of the unofficia GMAT scores as soon as they take the test. The LUMS code for receiving GMAT scores from ETS is 0679. For further detais on GMAT, pease og on to www.mba.com.

13 Note: GMAT taken more than five years before the admission deadine wi not be considered vaid. The deadine to take GMAT is May 8, 2015. If the appicant has taken more than one test, the best score wi be considered for appication evauation. Avaiabiity of GMAT score wi be mandatory for submission of onine admission appication. Appicants who are admitted and join the EMBA programme. wi get a refund of one GMAT registration fee. 14 Sponsoring Empoyees Weekend Programme Participants are encouraged to seek financia support from their empoyers in addition to their consent to attend a the course modues. This means that the company agrees to spare the participant from work during on-site sessions to ensure that he/she is avaiabe on a cass days. The financia support of the participant s company is a matter that needs to be resoved between the participant and the company itsef; however, LUMS does provide MCB Student Persona Loan (SPL) faciity to EMBA students. ACCOMMODATION Participants wi have to indicate on their admission appication whether they want to stay on campus. They wi have to commit for the entire programme and are responsibe for their meas and other expenses.
