CONTEXT Explains what are the different modes of the hardware key, and what each mode allows or not. PROBLEMS TO AVOIID Machine credits deficit Hardware key confirmation issues (wrong pc, ) IINTRODUCTIION In this application note, we will present you the different modes of the hardware keys, and a methodology to work with two hardware keys at the same time. The first thing to know is that in order to work, the hardware keys need now to be confirmed on a machine (sedentary dongle), meaning that you can use it with their full functionalities only on the machine where they have been confirmed (see below for more explanation). Picture 1 : Generic confirmation window You cannot confirm two hardware keys with softwares using credits (NL220, NLFacilities) on the same pc. Picture 2 : Another key already confirmed on pc If the machine credits (LNS credits) are low, the credits icon will be displayed on a blinking red background. In NL220 or NLFacilities, the dongle icon will be displayed normally, with the NON CONFIRMED text next to it. o You cannot install a node o You cannot uninstall a node o You cannot remove an installed node o You cannot send updates on the network (NLFacilities) o All other functionalities are working With other softwares (NLTestChannel, NLPrecom, ) o You can only launch the softwares in DEMO mode Confirmed In NL220 or NLFacilities, The dongle icon will be displayed normally, with the CONFIRMED text next to it. Picture 5 : NLFacilities confirmed and not confirmed functionalities Moved The MOVED mode is active if you are using a confirmed dongle on a different machine. In NL220 or NLFacilities, the dongle icon will be displayed normally, with the MOVED text next to it. o You cannot install a node o You cannot uninstall a node o You cannot remove an installed node o You cannot send updates on the network (NLFacilities) o You cannot order credits o You can switch to derogation mode (see below for more details) o All other functionalities are working With other softwares (NLTestChannel, NLPrecom, ) o You can only launch the softwares in DEMO mode Derogation DEROGATION mode can be activated in MOVED mode It will allow you to force node installation, uninstallation, or sending updates on the network In NL220 or NLFacilities, the dongle icon will be displayed on a blinking red background, with the DEROGATED text next to it. o All functionalities are available o You can order credits, after a warning message WIITH PREVIIOUS HARDWARE KEYS ((UNTIIL NL220 V4..1..0..5)) If the dongle has not been confirmed yet o Then normal validation If the dongle has already been confirmed and there are enough LNS credits o Normal functioning Tel : +33 (0)5 61 15 18 45 Fax : +33 (0)5 61 15 16 Page 3 / 5
Picture 6 : Confirming previous version dongle If the dongle has already been confirmed and there are NOT enough LNS credits o Contact support team to confirm the key : hot.line@newron-system.com Picture 7 : Confirming previous version dongle (not enough LNS credits) DOUBLE DONGLE MODE A new mode is now available, that can be interesting for network integrators. The idea is to have a key that will be left on the jobsite, with restricted functionalities (Maintenance mode). This key will have the installation credits. To enable full functionalities, you can plug an integrator dongle and work with two dongles at a time. In this case, the credits will be consumed on the Maintenance key.
