Utilizing Clutch Gift & Stored Valued Functionality Recommended Use Cases for Testing Check Balance >Search Transaction Send Search transaction via API or POS on activated card to confirm correct balance is returned. Card number should be included in this call. An Inquiry sent on an inventory status card (not active) will return an error Activation Required. This error confirms that transaction was received, but balance cannot be returned. Selling A Gift Card >Gift Issuance (Physical) >Gift Issuance with Card Allocation (Digital) >Sell Multiple Gift Cards For Physical Gift cards: Testing should simulate the process of selling a gift card. Sending the transaction type Gift Issuance and the amount sold via POS or other terminal type typically does this. For Ecommerce E-gift card sold: A Card Allocation request must be sent via API followed by a Gift Issuance for the amount of card sold. Accepting a Gift Card >Gift Redemption >Full Gift Redemption >Partial Gift Redemption >Split Tender Redemption Using a card loaded with value, proceed to ring a sale in POS and use gift card tender for payment. Attempts for redemption greater than card value should return message requesting additional tender needed. Depending on Program configuration and POS capabilities, it is possible that a request for redemption greater than card balance could be denied. Void Transaction Attempt to void a gift issuance and a gift redemption transaction Balances should revert to the amount on the card prior to the transaction that has been voided. Merchandise Credit Merchandise credit transactions are typically done on a branded card that specifically denotes itself as a Merchandise Credit card. It is separated into its own distinct program on the Clutch back end. Process a return transaction on POS or Ecommerce system and use your Gift card tender type to add value to gift card. This is sent to Clutch as a Gift Issuance transaction or as a Return transaction depending on the integration. Either way, the result would be an activated card with the value specified for store credit. Have Questions? Our support team is available.
