Comparative Analysis Report Design (for Jonas Club Management) There are two areas from which this report can be built; the general ledger (using one of the 3 statement designs A/B/C), and the Master-Gen report writer (found under the Administration menu). The instructions below assume you are using Jonas version 10.2.0 or higher. For review purposes, the template below is what we agreed on at our initial meeting. Current Quarter Operating Income Dues 39.1% Food 27.3% Beverage 8.8% Merchandise Sales* 4.0% Golf & Sports 10.7% Other 10.1% Total Operating Income 100.0% Cost of Sales Cost of Food 33.6% Cost of Beverage 30.5% Cost of Merchandise 85.5% Gross Profit 82.3% Operating Expenses Payroll & Related 57.1% Other Operating Expense 29.3% Operating Profit/(Loss) -4.1% *We had agreed to include the Cost of Merchandise line so I feel the Merchandise Sales revenue line should also be included (necessary for calculation purposes).

Instructions for using general ledger design. If you have not setup a statement design for one of the available design codes you may use the QUIK-Setup Financials feature under the General Ledger/Design/QUIK- Setup Financials menu. Instructions for using the QUIK-Setup are available on the Jonas Application Briefs CD. The instructions are under a file named Financials Club.pdf. If you do not have the disk I can send you that file. If you have already setup all three but want to use one for this purpose you will need to edit it using the General Ledger/Design/Design Each Line on Financial Stmt and General Ledger/Design/Declare Position of Headings & Totals features. It also has instructions for use in the Jonas Application Briefs CD under the same file name.

Instructions for using Master-Gen report writer. The Master-Gen report writer can be found in the Administration/Master-Gen: Design Reports menu. Select **Add New Report** and enter the name (Design Code) for the report.

You will then see a design template to enter the design parameters for your report. In the design template you will give a description for your report, identify the number of rows and columns to be used, the width of each column and the page heading for the report. You will need three columns for this report; one for the line item description (column width 35), one for the G/L data (column width 15) and one for the percentage calculation (column width 15). The G/L data (i.e. dollar amounts) will not be shown in the final report, as we will re-set the column width to zero. The number of rows needed the data is about 12-15 I used 35 to give room for titles, underlines, etc. The title or heading for the report is entered in the Pg Hdg Line1 and Pg Hdg Line 2 fields. Click on the OK button and your report template will be displayed.

The report template is similar to an excel spreadsheet in appearance. You will enter the data to be printed in the cells just as in a spreadsheet. The type of data we will be using for this report are; alphanumeric descriptions, G/L financial data and calculations. To choose the type of data to be used, select the cell you want (use the mouse or arrow keys) and press the enter key. This will open a data type selection window where you can choose the type of data you want in the cell. For column A select Alphanumeric desc and type the heading or line item description in the Description field.

Column B will use G/L financial data. When you select this data type, the following window will open. The Type of Data for this report will be QTRTY Current Qtr - This Yr. The next field used will be the G/L accounts field. This will be the General Ledger Accounts to be reported in this cell. Account numbers may be entered individually separated by a comma, or as a range of accounts separated by a hyphen (i.e. 200-400). The final field to be filled is the Print Format field. For the purpose of this report we will use the C1 and C1R (reverse sign) formats. These print with a minus sign for credits and use 2 decimal places. Use the C1R format for revenues (credits) so they show on our report as positive numbers. Column C will use the Calculation data type. This data type will allow you to input a calculation in the cell similar to an excel spreadsheet formula. For this report we will be calculating the percentages for the line items.

The formula syntax for these calculations will be (b7/b12)*100. The *100 is to bring the calculation to a whole number 10% instead of.1. For cost of sales calculations we will use *-100 as the numerator (revenue) is a negative number. The Print Format for these fields will be P1 which is a percentage with 1 decimal place. This is the final step to produce the report. Headings can be added using the alphanumeric description data type. Underlining may also be inserted using alphanumeric description data type and typing hyphens (-----------) in a cell for underlines. This report can be run from; Administration/Master-Gen: Print Reports. Once you are satisfied with the validity of the data you can go back to Master-Gen Design Reports, select your report and then select the Rep Size button. This will get you to the design template window and you can then change the column width for column B to zero so it will not print the data.
