1. Access PATS at www.providenceschools.org/pats - the page looks like this: 2. If you are a PPSD employee, select the link labeled Current Employees (Internal Applicants) which will take you to the Providence Schools Employees page which looks like this: If you have not yet created a profile, select the link I have never created a profile before if you have created a profile, you can skip ahead to Step 14 which explains how to return to PATS once you have a profile set up.

3. You will be taken to the New Providence Schools Employee Login page. On the New Providence Schools Employee Login page, you will enter a generic username and password which are being given only to PPSD employees as shown below. Username: ProvidenceSchools Password: careers This generic login information gets you access to a PPSD-employees only area of the site where you can review available jobs and create your profile - To create a profile, select Create a profile without applying to a job (circled below)

4. To create a profile, first enter your first and last names middle name is optional. Then enter your PPSD email address the system verifies you are a PPSD employee by your email address so you will need to enter an email address that ends in @ppsd.org, @chamberschool.com, or @times2.org. If you don t have a PPSD email address or cannot access your PPSD email, contact the HelpDesk at help.ppsd.org. 5. Choose a password that you will use to log in to PATS and set up a Secret Question and answer that you will be able to use to reset your password if you forget it. 6. Click Continue when you have entered all the required information. Clicking Continue creates your basic profile and saves the email address and password you entered you will use these login credentials whenever you return to PATS.

7. The next page you see will look like this: On this page you can upload your resume and your cover letter or essay if a cover letter or essay is required for the position(s) you re interested in. All regular teaching applications are covered by a common essay selected other positions require a cover letter. Some positions do not require an essay or cover letter at all. To upload a document, hit Browse and locate the document on the computer you re using.

You will know your upload was successful if you see the document you wanted to upload appear in the area circled below. Clicking Preview lets you look at the document you uploaded so you can verify your upload worked. When you have uploaded your documents, scroll down and click the button marked Advance to the next step.

On the next page and on subsequent pages, you may notice some information has already been filled in. This information was pulled from your resume automatically in a process called parsing and placed in the fields by PATS. This can save you some time entering data but you should check all the information carefully to ensure it ended up in the right place. You don t have to upload a resume at all you can simply enter the information yourself in each box. You also don t have to follow any particular format for your resume you can include any information you want in any format you want. Here are a suggestions that can make parsing go more smoothly which may save you time: - Put your name and primary contact information at the top of your resume include mailing address and phone number(s) - List your experience chronologically with your current/most recent position at the top of your resume - For each entry, follow the same format name of the school or organization, location of the school or organization, dates of employment, and description of your responsibilities and achievements - Use the format mm/dd/yyyy (e.g. 06/15/2004) for all dates - Enter all geographic locations using the format City, State like this Providence, RI or Oakland, CA - Don t use the word School in the name of places you ve worked use Nathan Bishop Middle or Nathan Bishop MS rather than Nathan Bishop Middle School. The software is looking through your resume for both experience and education and using the word School can make the software think it s looking at a school you attended. - Include only experience and education do not include other things like objective, overview, list of published works, etc. Remember: all of the above are just suggestions and no matter which approach you take to getting your information in, you should check and make sure all the information is complete and correct.

Here is an example of a page containing parsed data from an uploaded resume: Most of the information made it in just fine the software did make one error though. The candidate s last name was entered into the Primary Address 1 field together with the actual address. If something like this happens to you, you will need to correct it by clicking on the appropriate box, deleting any incorrect information, and entering the correct information see below, Primary Address 1 is corrected.

8. On the Qualifications page, select any RIDE credentials you hold or are working on obtaining and expect to have completed for next year. Select all your credentials clicking with the mouse while holding down the CTRL key lets you make multiple selections. You can also identify any out of state credentials you hold here.

9. On the next page, you may see parsed information from your resume as with contact information, check carefully to make sure it s correct.

10. On the Education page, you may again see parsed information as always, make sure the information is correct and complete. Some notes on the Education page: - If your school is listed, select it from the drop-down menu only if your school is not listed should you enter anything in the Other school if not listed box. You will have to select Other in the dropdown box if you want to enter a name of a school that isn t listed. - Please enter your schools websites this will make it easier for people reviewing your application to understand your educational background even if they aren t familiar with the school(s) you attended this is particularly important if you attended a school outside the United States. - While PATS accepts only exact dates ( September 1, 2000 not September 2000 or Fall Semester 2000 ) you can select dates that reflect approximately when your studies took place. GPA on the other hand should be precise. - Many fields are optional only those marked with a red asterisk are required. - You should be prepared to produce transcripts documenting the information you enter here upon request. Enter any language or other Skills you want to mention at the bottom of the Education page.

11. Complete the EEO survey. 12. Your Profile is now complete applying to individual jobs is easy and only requires you to answer a few additional questions related to the specific certifications required for that job. 13. Questions related to a specific job look like this: 14. For every application, you will be required to digitally sign the application, attesting the information you ve submitted is true and complete the authorization page is shown here.

15. On subsequent visits to PATS, you will be able to log in using your own personal email address and password not the generic username and password you used to gain access on your first visit. From the Providence Schools Employees page (pictured here) select I already have a profile in the Career Center 16. You will be taken to the login page where you can enter your PPSD email address and the password you chose when you created your profile as shown below. Clicking Login takes you to your Job Dashboard.

17. From your Job Dashboard (pictured below) you can search for and apply to jobs, make changes to your profile information, and access your Job Agent. 18.
