October 15, 2015 UWW Wireless: Creating Bulk Wireless Guest Accounts OVERVIEW This guide will walk you through the steps to create and manage bulk guest wireless accounts through the Guest Wireless Sponsor Portal. NOTE: Only pre-approved UWW staff and faculty can create and manage guest wireless accounts using the Guest Wireless Sponsor portal. Please contact the helpdesk@uww.edu to get bulk guest approval. Guest accounts are only valid for a total of 3 days. Guest accounts are set to 1 day by default. Guest Wireless Sponsor Portal can be accessed through a mobile device. Guest Wireless Sponsor Portal works best in Firefox. Step 1 Using a web browser, go to sponsor.uww.edu. Enter your Net-ID and password in the text boxes available, then press the Sign On button. Step 2 Carefully read the Acceptable Use Policy. Click the Accept button to continue.
Create Bulk Guest Accounts - Random: Allows you to create bulk guest accounts using randomly generated usernames. Step 1 Part A Select the Create Accounts button from the toolbar at the top of the page. Select the Random button from the toolbar in the middle of the page. Enter the following guest information: Number of accounts (Required) Username prefix: The prefix name the bulk accounts will begin with. Group Tag: A descriptive name for the guest account. Language: Language for the guest account. 2
Step 1 Part B Under the Access Information section, please complete the following: Duration: Enter the number of days the guest account should remain active. A guest account can remain active for 1 3 days. From Date and Time: Enter the start date and time for the guest account. To Date and Time: Enter the end date and time. NOTE: From date should be in the format (yyyy-mm-dd) or use the button to select a date and time. NOTE: Time should be entered using the military time format. Example: 01:00 is equivalent to 1:00 am. 14:00 is equivalent to 2:00 pm. Click the Create button to create the guest accounts. Step 2 The guest accounts have been created. Click the Print button to print out the guest account information. Click the Done button to continue. Click the Manage Accounts button in the top toolbar to manage the new guest accounts. 3
Bulk Import Guest Accounts: Import a list of bulk guest accounts using an Excel template file. Step 1 Select the Create Accounts button from the toolbar at the top of the page. Select the Import button in the middle of the page. Click the Download Template link to download the bulk import user template. Step 2 Locate, then open the guest.csv bulk import user template file using Microsoft Excel. Fill in the spreadsheet columns with the first and last name, email address, and phone number of each guest user. Note: Only the first name, last name, and email address are required. Note: You must leave the first row of the spreadsheet intact for the file to upload properly. Once complete, save this file to a location on your computer. Note: If you wish to notify the guest user of their wireless account via SMS text message you must also enter the user s phone number. Note: You may want to rename the file so it is easier to find. 4
Step 3 Locate and maximize the UWW Guest Sponsor browser window that was open in step 1. Select the Choose File button to upload your guest template file from step 2. Step 4 Part A Locate and select the bulk guest file you created in step 2. Click the Open button to continue. If you wish to send a text message to the guest with their UWW wireless guest account information, please select their SMS provider from the available option box. Note: You must provide a phone number in the guest template Excel file to send a text message to the guest user. Enter a group description in the Group Tag box if you wish. (Not required) Select the appropriate language from the Language box. 5
Step 4 Part B Under the Access Information section, please complete the following: Duration: Enter the number of days the guest account should remain active.
