Our corporate philosophy We turn passion into power In order to be successful, we are clear with one another - we are fair, respectful and open with each other and with our customers. We assume responsibility for people in the workplace and in society. We think outside the box we develop new ideas and create progress by continuous improvements. We don t make compromises neither in quality, nor in environmental protection. Presentation of KACO new energy 13

We ensure quality by means of a sophisticated quality management system (ISO 9001:2008) Production is in accordance with the RAL GZ 966 " Solarenergieanlagen " quality seal. And we know that we produce quality because we grant up to 7 years warranty on our inverters and, this warranty may be extended up to 25 years. Presentation of KACO new energy 14

We take responsibility for the environment We produce: 100 % CO 2 -neutrally 100 % free of nuclear power We produce electrical power - the capacity of company owned PV-power plants is more than 1.000,000 kwh electrical power per year. We use electric vehicles for inter-site traffic. We support the initiative "my climate" to compensate environmental damage resulting from business trips and CO 2 -emissions. Why are we in the business field of Photovoltaics?? Reasons for solar 26

Electrical supply with renewable energy Electrical supply with renewable energy There is plenty of solar energy available: On the scale of human beings, solar energy is practically limitlessly available. Sun s life-cycle Today Temperature increase Red Giant Planetary fog White dwarves Birth Billions of years Not to scale Reasons for solar 27

The electrical supply of the future The world s primary energy needs of today are: 500 EJ 500EJ = 500.000.000.000.000.000.000 Joules Can this extremely high annual energy requirement be supplied by the sun? Reasons for solar 28

The electrical supply of the future Electrical supply with renewable energy Assumption: The Earth s radius: 6.367 km = 6,3 10 6 m Solar constant: 1,367 W/m² 8760 Hours per year Energy irradiated to Earth per annum: π (6.3 10 6 m) 2 1,367 Wm -2 8,760 3,600 s = π 40.5 10 12 1.3 10 3 31.5 10 6 J = 5484 10 12+3+6 J = 5.5 10 24 J = 11000 500 EJ The availability of energy from the sun is ten thousand fold possible. Reasons for solar 29

World s energy needs Just a solar surface of 400 x 400 km in the Sahara would be enough to cover the world s energy needs (107.000 TWh). Reasons for solar 30

Surface area needed for 200 GW of photovoltaic Germany 357 148 km² Settlement and Transportation areas 46 800 km² (13 %) Photovoltaic surface area for 200 GW 1400 km² (0,4 %) Reasons for solar 31
