INTRODUCTION There are several housing options available near RMCAD, and each offers something different. A healthy living space is a contributing factor to your success here, so it s important that you take the time to research which type of living style is best for you. You should begin your search for housing as soon as you have been accepted as a student. Because our primary goal is to help you make a smooth transition to RMCAD, we make it a priority to help you fi nd housing that suits your individual needs. As a means to this end, we provide services and resources to assist you in this process. This brochure will help you gain the knowledge and tools necessary for fi nding the right housing for you. In it, you ll fi nd several properties that are close to campus. Each property is unique, so it s important that you look closely at your options before signing a lease. It s very easy to meet other students who share your interests. You can almost always find a friend to go out to eat with, study with, go to the gym with, etc. You like to take part in planned social activities. Dorm-sponsored events provide entertainment and create a feeling of family. You want a low-stress, all-inclusive living arrangement. Living in a dorm and having a meal plan means there s no need to worry about monthly rent payments, utilities bills, or trips to the grocery store. You re looking for a sense of support and security. Resident Assistants are always on hand to help, and 24/7 security offers peace of mind. You don t have a car and would appreciate the convenience of a shuttle to campus and nearby public transportation. You value your privacy and feel uncomfortable sharing your living space (and your bathroom) with a lot of other people. You desire an undisturbed, quiet place to study without having to go to the library. You like to cook. Keep in mind that not even small appliances are allowed in dorms. You re looking for a large space where you can spread out and bring all your furniture and personal items from home. Privacy is important to you. The seclusion of apartment living means you may have to make more of an effort to create your social circle. You want to be surrounded by a lot of other students. Your neighbors could include families with small children, older adults, and just about anyone. You don t like to cook or clean up after yourself. You don t want the responsibility of monthly bills like rent, utilities, cable, Internet, etc. You don t have a car and are concerned about transportation to/ from campus and around town.
