Depending on the system to describe, various professional communities have developed specific frameworks based on standard languages (UML2, BPMN ). The large defense industry organizations were pioneers with effective frameworks, allowing them to describe increasingly complex defense and security systems. Through international initiatives such as the NAF (NATO Architecture Framework), or local ones with DODAF (the Department of Defense Architecture Framework), new standards for specifying complex system architectures have emerged.
