Viewing a Website Hyperlinks A hyperlink can appear in the form of underlined hypertext or as a picture/object/graphic. When you move your mouse pointer to the hyperlink it will change to a hand. Hyperlinks Mouse Pointer By clicking once on a hyperlink you can move to the relevant web page or website. Exercise 12 1 In the current tab, type softpub.co.cc into the Address box and press Enter. (Note there is no www.) 2 Position your mouse pointer over the button as shown above. Your mouse pointer will change to a hand. 3 Click with the left mouse button. Internet Explorer will now move to the hyperlink chosen. The hyperlink you clicked on takes you to a page on products sold by Software Publications. Notice that the URL in the Address box has changed. 4 Press Ctrl End to move to the end of the page (or drag the scroll box to the bottom of the scroll bar). 5 Press Ctrl Home or scroll up to the top of the page. 6 Click on the button to display the Feedback page. Blocked Content When you access some web pages, you may find that some or all of the content of the site is blocked. Internet Explorer does this to protect your computer if it detects anything in the site that has the potential to harm your computer. If the page contains blocked content you will see a yellow bar at the top of the page (under the tabs). Right clicking on this bar provides options for how to deal with the blocked content. 7 A yellow bar may display at the top of the screen above the Feedback page. content that pops-up in a separate window. 8 Right click on the yellow bar. This is an external hyperlink that moves you to a completely different website. 13 Click on the Back button to return to the Links page. 14 Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on. 15 Click on the Close button at the top right corner of the message to close the email (click on No if asked to save changes) and return to the web page. 16 Click on to display the Products page again. Print Preview Exercise 13 1 Click on the of the Print button on the Command Bar. Select Print Preview. The web page will be displayed in print preview and the Preview toolbar will be displayed. Page Setup Options Sometimes when you print a web page you may find that the margins or the paper size for the web page are incorrect. From the Page Setup dialog box you can change any of the page setting (margins, page orientation, headers and footers, etc.). Printing a Web Page Exercise 15 1 Choose [File] Print. 2 Ensure All is selected from the Page Range section. 3 Click on. Alternatively, click on the Print button with default settings. on the Command Bar to print the current web page Web Browsing Exercise 16 In this exercise you will look at the Barnes and Noble bookstore, add a book to the shopping cart and then clear the shopping cart. Note that the format of this website may change slightly; instructions will have to be varied accordingly. 1 Type the following address into the Address box and press Enter: barnesandnobel.com 2 There should be a search bar on the first page of the website. Enter your favourite author s name into the search bar and press Enter OR click on the Go button. 3 A list of books will be displayed. Scroll through the list to view them. Note Currency is US Dollars. 4 Locate a book you would like to buy. Click on This page is displayed as a form. You will see many different types of forms when looking at websites that are used for different purposes. Some forms are used for ordering products; others are used for questionnaires, searches, and feedback forms. Adding a Website as a Favourite A favourite is a website that you wish to view regularly, or would like to mark so you can return to it later. Exercise 18 1 Choose [Favorites] Add to Favorites OR click on the Add to Favorites button and select Add to Favorites. 2 With the current name selected, type Barnes & Noble into the Name box. 3 Click on Add.
