Setup procedure for Windows 95/NT 4.0 1. Overview When Microsoft s operating system, Windows 95(both Japanese and English version) and Windows NT Workstation 4.0(both Japanese and English version), are ordered as the OS for the personal computer(pc) module of PC-integrated i-series and Intelligent Terminal Type 2 of, these OSs are shipped in the form of CD-ROM from FANUC. It is necessary to configure the PC module so that it can use the CD-ROM drive by purchasing the proper hardware and software from the PC market when the installation of the additional software drivers or re-installation of the OS itself is required, because the PC module of the Open CNC does not have the CD-ROM drive. This manual describes the handling of the CD-ROM drive using the PCMCIA card socket and the installation procedure of the Open CNC drivers at Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. 2. Windows 95(Japanese/English version) FANUC shipped Windows 95(Japanese/English version) with the OS backup medium in the form of FLOPPY DISK until the following changing date. But the order number for Windows 95 has been changed because the OS backup medium is changed from FLOPPY DISK to CD- ROM. So, old order number cannot be used for the new ordering specification. Name New order number Old order number Changing date Windows 95(Japanese) A02B-0207-J540#JP A02B-0207-J510#JP February, 2000 Windows 95(English) A02B-0207-J540#EN A02B-0207-J510#EN April, 1998 2.1. Re-installation of OS FANUC ships the CD-ROM and one Setup Boot Disk as the OS media for PC-integrated i- Series and Intelligent Terminal Type 2 of Open CNC(hereafter, "Device"). When you re-install Windows 95 to the hard disk, you will use this Setup Boot Disk in order to boot the OS and let the OS recognize the CD-ROM drive. At this time, PCMCIA SCSI card and CD-ROM drive having the SCSI interface are required as the hardware, and moreover, PCMCIA card service and SCSI card driver are also required as the software. However, these software are not included in the Setup Boot Disk shipped from FANUC. There are several types of PCMCIA SCSI cards, CD-ROM drives having the SCSI interface, PCMCIA card services in the PC market, FANUC has checked the usage of the following items. a. PCMCIA SCSI card Adaptec APA-1460x SlimSCSI (In order to connect the one of the following CD-ROM drives, the special cable is required. The ordering No. of Adaptec is ACK/ASI-H.) b.
