You can sign up on the Bulletin Board to let us know how many to plan for and if you can bring a salad or dessert to share. God bless you all! in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, WORDS OF OUR BISHOP I really came from a great family. I had wonderful parents. And I can't remember a time when I did not believe in and love the Lord Jesus. He's always been a part of my life, and I thank my parents for that. One of my early memories is my dad taking me into the church. He had a devotion to St. Anthony, and there was a side altar there that we would visit. What saint would I recommend to children to pray to? If you're named after a saint, either your first name or your middle name, if there's a special relationship there, pray to that saint. OK?...My patron saint is St. John of the Cross, the saint my parents named me for. And then what I would recommend is, find a saint that's a little bit like you -- there are all kinds of saints. Start reading some books about saints and find a saint that's a little bit like you, one that could be your best friend your best friend after Jesus. Jesus is always our best friend. But find a saint to pray to that's a little bit like you. The most important thing for all of us to do is to have this great friendship, this personal relationship with Jesus Christ -- something we can all do. And he needs to be the center of our life. The second thing is, we need to make a friend -- we need to build a civilization of love. And then, simply introduce your friend to Jesus. But Jesus should be really important to us, and should be really an important source of our joy. So all we really have to do is tell people what Jesus means to us. That's it. That's what I would like to invite you to do. Bishop(-elect) John Doerfler, Q&A See the See, Feb. 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xegluv_6qfq NEW PARISHIONERS Please welcome to our parish family: ~ Darlene Tepper ~ Thomas & Susan Noren ~ Katreena Hite MISSION STATEMENT: To encounter Christ through the Eucharist and answer His call to holiness To carry out our mission, we: ~follow in the footsteps of Saint Peter and Bishop Baraga in our commitment to proclaim the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and make disciples of all nations through evangelization and Catholic faith formation; ~are committed to prayerful lives and fostering participation in Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration and other liturgical devotions; ~welcome and serve our community, especially the less fortunate and one another. Michael Identical twins Jillian and Jenna Thistlethwaite were born May 9 in Akron, OH. They shared one amniotic sac and one placenta a condition known as monoamniotic (or mono mono ) a rare condition that takes place about one of every 10,000 pregnancies. To top it off, when doctors lifted Jillian and Jenna up for their parents to see after delivery, they were grasping each other s hands! Fortunately the girls were breathing on their own which allowed their parents to hold them on Mother s Day. Mrs. Thistlethwaite told the Akron Beacon Journal that this was the best Mother s Day present ever. A middle school math teacher, she added, They re already best friends. Dave Andrusko, National Right to Life News, May 2014 Sarah Thistlethwaite (right) touches her twin daughters, Jenna and Jillian, for the first time while her husband, Bill, snaps photos after her C-section delivery of the monoamniotic twin girls at Akron General Hospital on May 9 in Akron. Monoamniotic twins are a rare occurrence where the babies share the same amniotic sac within the mother s uterus.
