This new version of the Multicam is needed to benefit from the full capabilities of the new servers (XT3, XS and XTnano servers). This means basically an increase in the number of channels available and some additional features such as the mix effects on a single playback channel. Dual Channel Features The dual channel configurations are enabled by the use of the V3X codec modules introduced with the XT2+ and Multicam 10.04 (see Operator s ProNews related to the release 10.04). The dual channel configurations enable: 2 HD record channels per V3X module. Mix effects on one playback channel (only on XT3, XT2+ and XS servers) This feature offers the option to load a playlist with effects on 1 channel compared to the PGM/PRV mode needed in the legacy versions. In this latter case, two playback channels were monopolized to enable the mix effects. 1
Engineering Features of Multicam 11 Overview of EVS New Servers Here s a summary of the range of EVS servers including the new ones brought on the market this summer. As explained above, these new servers require the Multicam 11 Release to be able to use their maximum number of channels capability. 2 2
New Server Configurations Dual Channel Configurations Hereunder you find a list of Dual Channel configurations (= 2 record channels per V3X codec module) for the XT3 6RU, the XT3 4RU and the XTnano. XT3 Server XT3 6RU Server with 8 channels configurations XT3 4RU Server with 7 channels configurations 3 Limitations : the Dual Channel mode allows the use of 1 codec module to record 2 channels ; it does not allow to use 1 codec module to create 2 independent playback channels. It means that not all configurations are possible. For example: 2 REC + 6 PLAY, 2 REC + 4 PLAY, or 8 PLAY is not allowed for the 8 channel or 6 PLAY is not allowed for the 7 channel configurations. configurations. XS Server XS 6RU Server with 6 channels configuration Any configuration from 6 Rec to 6 Play channels XS 5RU Server with 4 channels configuration Any configuration from 4 Rec to 4 Play channels. 3
XTnano XTnano 4RU with 6 channels configurations XTnano 4RU with 4 channels configurations Note: for a complete view on the supported Multicam 11 configurations click on this link Support up to 96 embedded audio-tracks: 16 embedded audio on 6-channel configurations for XT3 6RU and XS 6RU New Back Panel Connection Philosophy A new connection philosophy has been defined, describing the way the main and secondary inputs need to be connected on the different codec modules. First, the Player channels must be cabled from left 4 side to right side in the classical way (1 PGM per codec module) Once all Player channels have been assigned, the Recorder channels must be cabled from right side to left side, by filling first the main inputs (J8) without mixing Recorders and Players on the same codec module Once all main inputs are filled, continue with filling the secondary inputs (J5). Example: 6 IN + 2 OUT configuration in HD, gives the following connector assignment: 4

New Operational Features of Multicam 11 Mix on 1 channel With the mix on one channel option, users can play back a playlist with effects using only one PGM output instead of two. New configuration management 6 With the release of Multicam 11, a new configuration concept has been implemented by developing of new setup screens with the goal of simplifying an engineer s job. The need for these changes has resulted from feedback collected over the years by our support teams via contact with customers. Before releasing the new Multicam version, several prototypes have been developed and tested by different end-users before approving the final outcome. The elements that have driven the changes are the following : Consolidation of all configuration possibilities into one interface Simplifying the configuration screens Changing parameters while the server is running Simplifying audio configuration Configuration possibilities from three «devices» For more information about the changes in the Multicam 11 configuration click on this link. 6
New Multiviewer configuration In the Monitoring tab of the Configuration screen, the layout function enables now also to configure the Multiviewer layout to cover 8 channels. Use the tab key with the space bar to set the number of channels as well as the layout of the Record and Play channels. Add Cut A new functionality of the Multicam 11 enables to split a clip inside a playlist using the LSM remote control panel. The function appears in the secondary menu of the playlist Edit mode. Procedure Enter the Playlist Edit mode and jog to the frame where the clip needs to be split. 7 Press the Menu key to display the secondary menu of the Edit mode. The Add Cut function appears corresponding to the Shift+D key combination. Press Shift+D to split the clip. The clip that originally had a duration of 20:00:00 has now been split in two clips. The first one 412C has a duration of 05:17:10 while the second one, that also kept the same name, has a duration of 14:42:15. 7
