Marie Reporting Reports to Executive Lead, Lottery and Gaming Start Date Expected February 2016 Purpose This position will lead the development and implementation of a talent management plan to drive retention, conversion, growth and creation of lottery and gaming business as part of the Sault Ste. Marie L&G Pursuit Project. The VP L&G Talent Management will work as one of four key members of the L&G Pursuit Senior Management team, a group of highly professional executives. Roles and Responsibilities Vision Direction and Leadership Sets primary framework for talent management strategies, objectives and integration of effort with both business outreach and communications management needs. Provides foundation for SSM presence in defined talent management objectives. Talent Strategic Plan Takes charge of developing strategies, approaches and tactics that lead to the identification, acquisition and retention of top talent Identifies key stakeholders for talent issues and engages in a process that builds trust and produces long term effective, meaningful relationships Assists and integrates key messages works cooperatively with Project Senior Management Team members (L&G Marketing and Communications, L&G Business Development, L&G Executive Lead) Coordinates input from relevant Advisory Groups to manage emerging talent priorities Prepares and provides briefs as needed for Executive Lead and Operational Governance reporting Management and Administration Manages senior relationships and negotiations with key program suppliers Develops and implements critical paths and timing schedules for Talent tactics and deliverables in the project, including ownership of outreach events and cooperative talent development initiatives Develops recommendations to other streams of the pursuit entity (Communications/Marketing, LG Innovations, LG Services) on synergies and opportunities Fosters good cooperation and dynamic team work
Educational Partner Management Collaborates with partners to understand and incorporate key elements of core processes such as talent planning, acquisition, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, succession planning, training and staff and leadership development Facilitates and guides sessions with distance, virtual and local educational institutions on the design and delivery of programming that prepares, develops and upgrades candidates within the talent pool Talent Outreach Communications Plan Builds and manages a L&G Talent Centre o Works with L&G Business & HR leaders to mobilize the full power of the Talent Centre (Acquisition, Development & Retention) against our Community s most critical L&G and related opportunities Informs & drives an integrated Talent Management Strategy enabled by stakeholder input, an overarching framework & the requisite tools o Provides consultation & expertise to current, future and potential L&G organizations o Identifies and helps address talent management requirements for locally based organizations in other verticals Ensures articulation of entity's desired image and position, assures consistent communication of image and position throughout communication activities, and delivers communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external. Initiates and designs communications research activities as required to refine branding and track program effectiveness. Supervision Supervises possible Talent Manager contracted supporting resource Market Research Designs and manages essential market research projects related to target audience needs, message management or new media campaign effectiveness for talent outreach Researches, identifies, recommends and/or oversees vendor services associated with talent management, including learning and organizational development Governance Integration Budget and External Supplier Activity Contributes to Senior Management Team communications and positioning activity. Drives continuous process improvements and implements best practices to manage projects efficiently. Tracks budgets as needed to ensure on-budget delivery of contracted services Prepares expenditure Workplan and forecasts as needed Prepares financial summaries and reports as needed Determines and assigns priority for internal and external projects. Manages relationships with outside vendors as necessary.

Preference for excellent knowledge and familiarity with L&G organizations and talent issues or outreach target markets. 15 or more years of experience leading, creating, and facilitating leadership, learning, succession, performance management, talent acquisition, career development, related management, organizational development processes within public and private sector environments Excellent negotiation skills for leading groups and determining optimum solutions and finding common ground, Good problem solving skills in performing critical thinking, problem identification, developing and evaluating solution options and determining best-bet solutions Must exhibit absolute familiarity with the cutting edge of current executive development, succession planning, talent identification, performance management, and repatriation and recruiting strategies. However, it is also critical that this individual balances the strategic with the practical and has the ability to implement and drive execution. Strong Team Leadership skills for maximizing Team participation and promoting good team dialogues Experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel. Ability to function as a good team member with excellent listening
skills for participating in a dynamic team environment Strong ability to take initiative and lead by example Executive Intelligence High levels of resourcefulness, influence/organizational savvy, execution skills (strategy through implementation) as well as executive presence/impact are critical to the success of this individual. The VP must promote strong team interaction across the breadth of the Pursuit Team s functional organization. He/She must be effective at sharing ideas and information with peers and business leaders. As such, the position requires strong relationship management skills.
