METRO CHRISTIAN ACADEMY OUR CHILDREN...OUR FUTURE.

WELCOME Welcome to Metro Christian Academy ( MCA ). We are happy you have selected our program for your child and trust that you will find our preschool a worthwhile experience in the development of your child. It s our desire to provide an exceptional Christian and academic foundation for all of our students and their families. MCA is an outreach ministry of New Hope Metro ( NHM ), under the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel denomination. It is owned and operated by New Hope Metro. The church s council acts as the governance board that meets to assist MCA s administration and leadership over the school. MCA is a safe, joyful and warm, Christ-centered preschool. Our administration and our team of teachers are dedicated to our students and their families. We believe in partnering with you in helping your child develop a love for God and to be successful in pursuing his/her education in the future. We are nondiscriminatory on the basis of race, color or national/ethnic origin. We strive to provide a safe and caring learning environment that allows students and families to experience the love of Christ firsthand. Our curriculum is developmental, designed to enrich the spiritual, cognitive, physical, emotional, and social stage of each child. We strive to help children and families establish a foundation that will strengthen their future learning. May the Lord richly bless us as we work together in raising the next generation of strong Christian leaders. Sincerely, Elwin P. Ahu, Sr. Pastor New Hope Metro Metro Christian Academy

SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY PRESIDENT FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT ONCE SAID, WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PREPARE THE FUTURE FOR OUR CHILDREN, BUT WE CAN AT LEAST PREPARE OUR CHILDREN FOR THE FUTURE. Of utmost importance to Metro Christian Academy is helping children discover and pursue the high potential that God has planned for their lives. As an extension ministry of New Hope Metro, we believe with conviction that every child is uniquely imprinted with the image of God. In order to reach the potential God has for each child, we believe that children should have a well-rounded program that encourages them to develop spiritually, cognitively, emotionally, physically, and socially. We strive for academic excellence so students will have the necessary tools to discover all that God has for them. The environment is key to the child s educational experience. We believe an orderly, prepared environment allows the child to experience learning at the pace that is appropriate to his or her needs. We have adopted a modified Montessori approach in which the child first experiences concepts concretely, through the manipulation of materials. Our curriculum is designed to strengthen concentration skills, independence and collaboration, through the implementation of whole group, small group, and individual activities. As a Christian Preschool, our obligation before God is to help each child learn about and develop a love for Christ and the Bible through daily experiences and application to everyday life. Everything in our curriculum is designed to lead students to a fuller understanding of Christ and a more complete relationship with Him. Our responsibility is not only to prepare children for a successful adult life, but also to lead them to an assurance of eternal salvation. We hold to the truth in Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. VISION STATEMENT Metro Christian Academy strives to develop creative, independent children with Godly character who have an enthusiasm to become life-long learners. MISSION STATEMENT Metro Christian Academy is a Christian preschool dedicated to provide quality early education that integrates developmentally appropriate, child-centered instruction in which a child may grow spiritually, cognitively, emotionally, physically, and socially in a Biblically-based environment, that builds Christ-like character and achieves excellence in academics for each child. STATEMENT OF FAITH AND CORE VALUES The Statement of Faith and Core Values for our school aligns with the Declaration of Faith of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel and New Hope Metro. CHRIST-CENTERED CURRICULUM We are committed to fulfill the God-ordained role in carrying out the Christian education mandate in the Bible (Deut. 6:7, Prov. 22:6; 2 Tim. 3:15-17). Our curriculum will provide caring, safe, child-centered environments, challenging and developmentally appropriate programs that cover a broad range of topics including Practical Life Exercises, Sensorial Exercises, Writing and Reading Exercises, Introduction to Math Materials and Creation / Bible Studies. In a loving, safe environment, teachers, using a Montessori approach, will guide students to make wise choices and encourage them to try new, challenging activities to become independent and eager learners and allow each child to acquire the basic skills in natural ways that will develop them spiritually, cognitively, emotionally, physically and socially.

PROGRAM GOALS BASED ON OUR VISION AND MISSION, THE BROAD GOALS OF OUR PROGRAM ARE TO: 01 POSITIVE INTRODUCTION Provide a positive introduction to an educational environment. 02 AGE APPROPRIATE EXPERIENCES Provide age appropriate experiences that will foster the spiritual, cognitive, emotional, physical, and social growth in each child. 03 POSITIVE SELF-CONCEPT Instill in each child a positive self-concept and feeling of self worth. 04 CHRISTIAN ATMOSPHERE Provide a classroom with a Christian atmosphere to promote respect and love for one another. 05 SELF-DISCIPLINE Help each child develop self-discipline by learning to be responsible for his/her own actions. 06 PROBLEM SOLVE AND MAKE DECISIONS Help each child develop the ability to problem solve and make decisions through active involvement in the learning process. 07 SOCIAL INTERACTION Provide opportunities for social interaction with peers. 08 MOTOR SKILLS Provide opportunities to develop large and small motor skills and coordination. 09 10 BUILD CHRIST-LIKE CHARACTER IN EACH CHILD.
