The Home Depot LivingHome Program/Guide livinghomes.net

The Home Depot LivingHome Built by Cavco The LivingHome C6, debuting at Modernism Week and TED, is a revolutionary new prefabricated home that combines clean, modern design with our Z6, LEED Platinum level environmental program and Cradle to Cradle inspired materials. This is our first affordable LivingHome. It was designed in collaboration with Make It Right, the non-profit started by Brad Pitt and Bill McDonough to redevelop the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans. We donate a portion of each sale to them. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, an open floorplan, and lots of storage, light and warmth. Comfy. Conscious. Complete: $179,000, includes a lifetime of happiness.* * Options extra. Local costs may vary. Other factors will probably impact your happiness, but the LivingHome C6 will seriously help. Cradle to Cradle is a registered trademark of McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry

LivingHomes Nature Made. Factory Built. LivingHomes is a leader in factory-built homes that combine world class architecture with an unparalleled commitment to healthy and sustainable construction. In addition to the new C6, we offer single and multi-family LivingHomes designed by Ray Kappe, FAIA, the founder of the Southern California Institute of Architecture (Sci-Arc), and by KieranTimberlake, an AIA Firm of the Year. The first LivingHome, designed by Ray Kappe, was installed in eight hours. It became the first home ever to receive a LEED for Home Platinum certification. Nine LivingHomes have been certified LEED Platinum, including the first multifamily Platinum project in San Francisco. LivingHomes are available in standard or customized configurations to builders, developers and individuals. You can get information and configure (and share!) your own Virtual LivingHome at livinghomes.net.

The Home Depot LivingHome C6 The C6 was inspired by a tradition of courtyard homes that began with the Romans and that defined the mid-century modern developments of Joe Eichler. It supports an outdoor/ indoor lifestyle that extends the utility of the LivingHome beyond its 1,232 square feet. Comfy, conscious, complete, we say, because of all the good stuff we include in the C6. You can read the details here and find out more @ www.livinghomes.net/c6. There you can even configure your own Virtual LivingHome C6 with colors and options you pick. And you can share it with your friends! The C6 is built by Cavco, a nationwide leader in the systems building of prefabricated homes. It is constructed in less than two months and installed in one day. Honestly, that s less time than it took for us to create this brochure. C6 Good Stuff Comfy Warm. Cork floors, wood ceiling, natural wood millwork and optional wood siding make the C6 warm and comfy! Indoor/outdoor living. Multiple sliding glass doors accessing the C6 s backyard and courtyard make it easy to bring the indoor out and out, in. Light filled spaces. Floor-to-ceiling glass, clerestory windows, solar tubes, and transom windows bring light into all parts of the home, including the closets. Smart heating/ac that reduces your power bill and that keeps you comfy! Super insulation, ceiling fans, and appropriate shading reduces the C6 s heating/cooling needs. The Nest learning thermostat, learns how you live and keeps the C6 at the temperature you prefer. Open plan. The kitchen, dining, and living space are all connected, making it easy for all in the family to share or do their own thing. Lots of storage. The C6 contains ample storage, particularly in the kitchen. Soft-close drawers. The Armstrong kitchen drawers almost close themselves. Conscious A really comprehensive environmental program that is designed to achieve Zero Energy (100% of energy from renewable resources), Zero Carbon (we pay for an off-set to cover the carbon that was expended to make the home) and very low water use and emissions. See the Z6 page for more details. Full feature lighting control system. The Verve lighting system allows you to control all the C6 s lights, to set scenes, and even to turn all lights out instantly, with one switch as you leave. You can even control the lights from your Iphone! Real time feedback on your energy use. An environmental monitoring system provides real-time feedback on energy use, so you can make informed choices about how and when you use power. A home that pays it forward. We learned a lot from Make It Right about how to make the C6 more affordable. So we donate a portion of each sale to them, in appreciation of that. Complete Our price of $179,000* is the complete cost of the C6. It includes: all hard costs for the C6 (finishes, fixtures, plus features you typically pay extra for like automated lighting and heating control and home security, etc.); permit ready drawings; an extended warranty (see below); and carbon offset. Not included: transportation, installation, foundation, permit costs, site prep, photovoltaics, specialty agency review. * Local costs may vary and options extra. Comprehensive, extended double warranty system. Cavco offers a standard home warranty: 1 year on everything; 2 years on mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. In addition, we include an extra warranty from 2/10, the largest and oldest of the home warranty coverage providers, which offers backup for Cavco, and includes coverage for all site work and a 10 year warranty on all structural work, which is 10x what is standard.

LivingHomes Z6 Environmental Design Goals LivingHomes aspires to build homes that are as healthy for inhabitants and the environment as possible. We use the LEED Program as an external, third party measure of our performance, but internally, we have developed a program called Z6 which clarifies and quantifies the key metrics which we aspire to achieve/minimize for six key variables: Zero Energy, Zero Water, Zero Emissions, Zero Carbon, Zero Waste and Zero Ignorance. The C6 is the first LivingHome to achieve almost all of our Z6 goals (*denotes an accomplished goal!). Zero Energy* Goal: Reduce energy requirements and produce power from renewable resources. Strategy: Heavy insulation to reduce heating and cooling needs. Energy efficient lighting. Photovoltaics that provide more than 100% of power. Zero Waste Goal: Eliminate waste sent to landfills from on-site construction. Strategy: Home manufactured with off-site construction that significantly reduces construction waste. Bulk material ordering reduces packaging waste. Zero Emissions* Goal: Eliminate off-gasing from toxic products for clean indoor air quality. Strategy: Low or no VOC paints, formaldehyde free cabinetry and insulation reduces in home off-gasing. No carpets, and detached garage also significantly reduce indoor air contaminents. Zero Water* Zero Carbon* Zero Ignorance Goal: Use only non-potable water for landscape irrigation and reduce water use to 30% below average. Strategy: Low flow fixtures and toilets to reduce indoor water use. Drought tolerant plants help reduce landscape water use. Results in 86% water reduction compared to average home. Goal: Offset carbon produced through making and shipping of building materials. Strategy: Cradle-to-Cradle CM certified tiles, recycled content in countertops, recycled decking, recycled insulation. Purchased carbon offsets to reduce carbon from construction to net zero. Goal: Make homeowners informed about the environmental impact of their daily resource usage. Strategy: In home energy monitor provides real time feedback of energy use. LivingHomes homeowner manual describes Z6 features and provides tips on everyday behavior.
