Important Note: Before you start the installation process you must know your operating system. Please read the following: Check your computer configuration Follow the instructions below to determine what type of operating system your computer uses. This is only necessary if you have the Vista or Windows 7 operating system. Vista and Windows 7 have a round Start button. 1. Check to see if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit Vista or Windows 7 operating system: Go to Start button, click on Computer. At the top of the screen, click on System Properties 2. Look at System Type this is the type of Vista or Windows 7 operating system you have. Write down if you have 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. 3. Close System Properties and Computer windows. If you have a 64-bit operating system, please contact PigCHAMP Technical Support at 1-866-774-4242 Ext. 64 before continuing the installation. 4

Chapter 1: PC Setup M O B I L E I N S T A L L A T I O N G U I D E The PigCHAMP Mobile installation is a very detailed process. Please refer to this Installation Guide for specific installation instructions. It is extremely important that you follow each step in order A. Install PigCHAMP Mobile Manager on Windows XP 1. Launch the CD from the CD-Rom drive and run the Setup.Exe file on the computer you will use to synchronize your mobile unit(s). The PigCHAMP Setup Wizard will appear. a. Click Next Note: If PigCHAMP Care 3000 is not installed on your computer, the first installation will be Microsoft SQL Server Express. Otherwise, you will be taken directly to the PigCHAMP Mobile Setup screen. Click Accept 2. Select the location in which to install the program. The default location should be used. To change the location, click on Browse and choose location to install. a. Click Next 3. Click Next to confirm and begin installation. 5

4.Wait for the installation to complete. The progress bar will fill multiple times. This may take several minutes. When finished you will receive the screen saying PigCHAMP Mobile has been successfully installed. a. Click Close to exit. 5. Once installed, the PigCHAMP Mobile icon will appear on your desktop. 6. Continue to Section B B. Active Sync for Windows XP 1. Place the PigCHAMP Mobile CD into the CD drive on your computer. Access your CD-ROM drive and double click on the ActiveSync folder, then double click on the setup.msi file for your system (XP). The ActiveSync Installation Wizard will appear. Follow the instructions on the screen. a. Click Next 2. Click the circle in front of I accept the terms in the license agreement. a. Click Next 3. Enter the User Name and Organization Name. a. Click Next 6

4. Select the location in which to install ActiveSync. You can use the default location or click on Change to choose a different location. Once the location has been selected: a. Click Next b. Click Install c. Wait for the installation process to complete. The progress bar will completely fill several times. This may take several minutes. Once you receive the message The Setup Wizard has successfully installed Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 d. Click Finish to exit the wizard. Once installed, the ActiveSync icon will be displayed in the System Tray in the lower right hand corner of the desktop screen (by the clock). There will NOT be an ActiveSync icon on the desktop screen. If you do not see the ActiveSync Icon and have a Show Hidden Icons arrow, click on the arrow to expand your System Tray. The ActiveSync Icon should now appear. 5. Continue on with Section G. 7

C. Install PigCHAMP Mobile Manager on Windows Vista Turn OFF User Account Control (UAC) in Windows Vista 1. To disable UAC in Vista, there are several methods to access the User Account Control settings page: For Control Panel Home View: 1. Go to Start Menu > Control Panel > User Accounts > User Accounts. For Control Panel Classic View 1. Start > Control Panel > User Accounts 2. Click Turn User Account Control on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 3. Clear the checkmark in the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box to turn off UAC 4. Click OK. 5. REBOOT THE COMPUTER. 1. Once User Account Control have been turned off; launch the CD from the CD-Rom drive and run the Setup.Exe file on the computer you will use to synchronize your mobile unit(s). The PigCHAMP Setup Wizard will appear. a. Click Next 2.Select the location in which to install the program. The default location should be used. To change the location, click on Browse and choose location to install. Note: If PigCHAMP Care 3000 is not installed on your computer, the first installation will be Microsoft SQL Server Express. Otherwise, you will be taken directly to the PigCHAMP Mobile Setup screen. Click Accept a. Click Next 8

3. Click Next to confirm and begin installation 4. Wait for the installation to complete. The progress bar will fill multiple times. This may take several minutes. When finished you will receive the screen saying PigCHAMP Mobile has been successfully installed a. Click Close 5. Once installed, the PigCHAMP Mobile icon will appear on your desktop. 6. Continue on with Section D. D. Installing Mobile Device Center on Windows Vista Follow the instructions below to install the Windows Mobile Device Center on your Personal Computer: 1. Place the PigCHAMP Mobile CD into the CD drive on your computer. Access your CD-ROM drive and double click on the Windows Mobile Device Center folder, then double click on the proper file for your system. a. Vista 32-Bit will need the drvupdate-x86.exe file. b. Vista 64-Bit will need the drvupdate-amd64.exe file. 2. The Windows Mobile Device Center box will appear and start installing 3. After it is done installing this Windows Mobile box will appear for a little while and then it will disappear. A Windows Mobile Device Manager icon will be created on the desktop. 4. Once the Windows Mobile box disappears, continue on to Section G. 9

E. Install PigCHAMP Mobile Manager on Windows 7 Turn OFF User Account Control (UAC) in WINDOWS 7 1. To disable UAC in Windows 7, there are several methods to access the User Account Control settings page: For Category View of the Control Panel: 1. Go to Start Menu > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts. 2. Go to Start Menu > Control Panel > System and Security > Action Center. For Large or Small Icon View of the Control Panel: 1. Go to Start Menu -> Control Panel > User Accounts > 2. Click on Change User Account Control settings link. 3. Slide the slider bar down to Never notify. 4. Click OK 5. REBOOT THE COMPUTER EVEN THOUGH IT DOES NOT PROMPT YOU TO DO SO. 1. Once User Account Control have been turned off; launch the CD from the CD-Rom drive and run the Setup.Exe file on the computer you will use to synchronize your mobile unit(s). The PigCHAMP Setup Wizard will appear. a. Click Next Note: If PigCHAMP Care 3000 is not installed on your computer, the first installation will be Microsoft SQL Server Express. Otherwise, you will be taken directly to the PigCHAMP Mobile Setup screen. Click Accept 2.Select the location in which to install the program. The default location should be used. To change the location, click on Browse and choose location to install. a. Click Next 10

3. Click Next to confirm and begin installation 4. Wait for the installation to complete. The progress bar will fill multiple times. This may take several minutes. When finished you will receive the screen saying PigCHAMP Mobile has been successfully installed a. Click Close 5. Once installed, the PigCHAMP Mobile icon will appear on your desktop. 6. Continue on with Section F. F. Install Windows Mobile Device Center on Windows 7 Windows 7 installs Mobile Device Center automatically. Connect the USB cable from the handheld unit to the computer. The computer will tell you Device Drivers are being loaded. If it does not automatically install Device Drivers, you may have to temporarily disable the firewall. Instructions to permit the handheld to operate through the firewall will be given later. You may be prompted to accept the licensing agreement of your Windows Mobile Device Center and also register; registering is optional. Continue onto Section G. 11

G. Configure SQL Prior to launching the PigCHAMP Mobile, settings must be changed in the SQL Server Configuration Manager, the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration and Firewalls. Follow the instructions below to make the changes: 1. Click Start on the PC s task bar. 2. The Start Menu will appear. Click on All Programs. 3. Click on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 4. Click on Configuration Tools 3 4 5. Click on SQL Server Surface Area Configuration 5 6. When SQL Server Surface Area box appears; click on Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections. 7. The SQL Surface Area Configuration screen will appear; click on Remote Connections 12

8. Check to make sure the circle in front of Local and Remote Connections is selected. If it is not, click on the circle to fill it in. 9. Check to make sure the circle in front of Using both TCP/IP and Named Pipes is selected. a. If it is not, click on the circle to fill it in. b. Click on Apply. 10. If a Warning Message appears, click OK and continue on with the instructions. If it does NOT appear, continue on with the instructions. 11. Click OK on the Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections screen. 12. Click on the X in the top right hand corner of the Surface Area Connection screen to exit. 13. Click Start on the PC s task bar. The Start menu will appear. 14. Click on All Programs 15. Click on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 16. Click on Configuration Tools 17. Click on SQL Server Configuration Manager 18. The SQL Server Configuration Manager will appear; click on SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration 19. Double Click on Protocols for PigCHAMPDATA 20. Double Click on TCP/IP 21. The TCP/IP Properties screen will appear; click on the IP Address Tab 13

22. Scroll Down to the IPALL Section. 23. The Dynamic Port must be blank; if there are any numbers in there; delete them. 24. The TCP Port must be set at 7894; if it is not already set for 7894 change it. 25. Click Apply 24. You may have a Warning Message appear, click OK and continue on with the instructions. 25. Click OK on the TCP/IP Properties screen. 26. Click on SQL Server 2005 Services 27. Right click on SQL Server (PIGCHAMPDATA); select Restart from the menu. 28. A progression box will appear while the SQL Server restarts. Once the box disappears, click on the X in the upper right hand corner of the SQL Server Configuration Manager 29. Continue onto Section H. 14

H. Firewall Settings M O B I L E I N S T A L L A T I O N G U I D E The following instructions apply to Windows XP; if you need assistance configuring firewalls for Windows Vista or Windows 7 please contact PigCHAMP tech support at 1-866-774-4242, Ext. 64. 1. Depending on Firewall settings, a few additional changes may need to be made. Follow the steps below to make the changes. 2. Click Start on the PC s task bar. 3. Click on Control Panel 4. Depending on the PC s settings, the Control Panel will either show as Category View or Classic View. 5. For Category View, double click on Security Center 6. The Windows Security Center screen will appear, click on Windows Firewall 7. The Windows Firewall Screen will appear. On the General tab, check to see if Firewalls is turned on or off. 8. If Off is selected, click on cancel in the lower right hand corner of the screen and move onto Chapter 2 Mobile System Setup. 9. If On is selected, continue on with the next step. 10. If Firewalls are turned on, uncheck the box in front of Don t Allow Exceptions. 15

11. Click on the Exceptions tab 12. Click on box in front of sqlbrowser.exe and sqlservr.exe so it places a checkmark in the box. 13. If sqlbrowser.exe and sqlservr.exe do not exist, Click on Add Program 14. Click on Browse 15. Click on My Computer 16. Double Click on the Hard Drive (C: Local Disk, etc.) 17. Double Click on Program Files 18. Double Click on Microsoft SQL Server 19. Double Click on the 90 folder 20. Double Click on Shared 21. Double Click on sqlbrowser.exe 16

22. Highlight sqlbrowser.exe; click OK. 23. The box in front of sqlbrowser.exe should now have a checkmark in front of it. If it does not, click the box to place a checkmark in it. 24. Click Add Program 25. Click Browse 26. Click My Computer 27. Double Click on the PC s hard drive (C:, local disk, etc.) 28. Double Click on Program Files 29. Double Click on Microsoft SQL Server 17

30. Double Click on MSSQL.1 31. Double Click on MSSQL 32. Double Click on Binn 33. Double Click on sqlservr.exe 34. Highlight sqlservr.exe; Click OK 35. The box in front of sqlservr.exe should have a checkmark in front of it. If it doesn t, click the box and a checkmark will appear. 36. Click OK 37. Click the X in the upper right hand corner to get out of the Control Panel. 38. Continue onto Chapter 2 18

Chapter 2: Mobile System Setup A. Licensing PigCHAMP Mobile Exporting Mobile Registration 1. The first time you open your PigCHAMP Mobile Manager on your PC after installing you will see the box to your right. a. Click OK and proceed with the instructions below. M O B I L E I N S T A L L A T I O N G U I D E 2. You will need to follow the below steps to export your registration out to license your mobiles: a. Click Help > About b. Click Customer Information tab and fill out your information. c. Click Export Registration d. You will have to choose where you want to save the file to and click OK. e. Once the file has been saved a message will appear telling you the location the file was written or saved to. Click OK. f. You will need to email this registration file to PigCHAMP at reg@pigchamp.com. Importing Mobile License 1. You will receive an email back from PigCHAMP with your PigCHAMP Mobile license file. To import the file you will need to follow the below steps: a. Save attachment (PigCHAMPMobile_License.xml) to your computer. b. Open PigCHAMP Mobile Manager on PC c. Click Help > About 2. Click Import License 19

3. Choose destination where you saved the mobile license, highlight license; click Open 4. When you have successfully imported your license you will see the box to the right; click OK 5. Now you will see the box with all your information. a. Click close in the lower left hand corner 6. If you need to setup your router continue onto Section B, if you already have your router setup continue onto Section C. 20

B. Router Install (optional) Setting Up Your Belkin Router If you have purchased a Belkin Wireless Router as part of your PigCHAMP Mobile system, follow the instructions below to configure it to use with the PigCHAMP Mobile system. 1. Remove the router from the box and locate the Quick Installation Guide. 2. If you intend to use ONLY this router to synch your mobile device(s) to a laptop/desktop computer, you can disregard some of the information in the quick start guide. a. Disregard the instructions regarding your modem (this is used to connect to the internet, and if you don t intend to do this, you don t need to worry about it). b. You will need to plug the yellow cable into the ONE OF THE WIRED CONNECTIONS of the router (not the one marked modem) and THE OTHER END INTO THE NETWORK CONNECTION OF YOUR DESKTOP/LAPTOP COMPUTER. Do not plug the yellow cord into the modem as instructed in the Quick Start Guide. You will also need to plug the power supply into an outlet and the router to power the router. 3. It is not necessary to use the installation CD provided with the router for the basic installation and operation of the PigCHAMP Mobile system. After you have the router plugged into your computer, your mobile units should recognize it as Belkin_N_Wireless_xxxxxx with the last six digits being unique to your router. This is the connection you will access when you get to page 22 & 23 of your installation manual. *This is a very simple connection that does not have a great deal of security. It is possible that someone with a wireless network computer in range of your router would be able to access your network. It is very unlikely that this could cause problems, but if you are concerned, you should contact your IT support specialist or review the information regarding security that is available on the Belkin User Guide found on the installation CD. 21

C. Enabling Wireless on Mobile Units Special Note: Before continuing on please disconnect your mobile device from the USB cable and desktop/laptop computer. On each Mobile Unit being used, do the following: 1. Tap Start > Tap Settings 2. Tap Connections Tab 3. Tap Wireless Manager 4. Tap Wi-Fi 5. The Wireless Connection will be established. It will be indicated below the Wi-Fi line. 6. Continue onto Section D 22

D. Find IP Address on your Mobile Unit: Follow these steps for all units: 1. Tap Start > Settings > Connections 2. Tap Wi-Fi 3. Tap Network Adapters tab 4. Tap on the network card * that coincides with the mobile device you have. See the table below to determine the name of the network card to tap on. 5. IP Address: MOBILE DEVICE Psion HP111 HP211 Archer NETWORK CARD Summit WLAN Wireless Card Marvell SDIO8686 Wireless Card Marvell SDIO8686 Wireless Card Socket Go Wi-Fi! P5000 *The table above includes a list of the hardware PigCHAMP has tested their product with. You may be using a different mobile device. If your mobile device is not listed above, follow steps 1 3 above and then do the following: 1. Tap on the first network card listed. 2. If this network card has an IP address listed in the IP address box write it down. Tap OK in the upper right hand corner. You have successfully found the IP address. IP Address: 3. If this network card does not have an IP address listed in the IP address box but instead it reads, Not connected, tap OK in the upper right hand box. 4. Tap the next network card in the list. When you find the one that has an IP address in the IP address box make note of the IP and the Network Card for future use. IP Address: Network Card: 5. If you have Windows XP continue onto Section E, if you have Windows Vista or Windows 7 continue onto Section F. 23

E. Windows XP: Connect Active Sync For each Mobile Unit being used: Installing Active Sync on Windows XP 1. Launch ActiveSync from System Tray on Computer. 2. Connect the Mobile Unit to the PC by connecting the Mobile Unit and PC via the USB Cable and USB Port on Computer. 3. Run the Synchronization Setup Wizard. Follow the steps on the screen. a. Click Next 4. UNCHECK the Synchronize Directly checkbox. a. Click Next 5. Uncheck ALL options under Information Type. a. Click Next 6. The Allow Wireless Connection screen may, or may not appear. If it does, make sure the Allow wireless data connection box is CHECKED and click Next. a. If it does not appear, continue on with the instructions. 7. Click Finish 8. Continue onto Section G. 24

F. Windows Vista & Windows 7: Connect Windows Mobile Device Center For each Mobile Unit being used, do the following: 1. Launch Windows Mobile Device Center using the icon on the desktop. a. For Generic Mobiles: Connect the Mobile Unit to the PC with the USB cable. b. For PSION units: Place unit into Docking Station. Connect the Mobile Unit and PC via the USB Cable by inserting the cable into the Docking Station and USB Port on Computer. Be sure to plug the Docking Station into Electrical Outlet via electrical cord. c. Run the Synchronization Setup Wizard. 2. Follow the steps on the screen. a. Click Setup 3. UNCHECK all the boxes a. Click Next 4. Name the device so you can tell the device(s) apart. a. Click Setup 5. The following screen will appear while the Mobile Device Center is downloading onto the Mobile. Once it s completely downloaded it will disappear. 6. Once the previous box disappears the Windows Mobile Device Center will appear stating the device is connected with the name that you gave it through the setup process at the lower left hand corner. 7. Continue onto Section G. 25

G. Install PigCHAMP Mobile on Mobile Device Special Note: Before continuing on please connect your mobile device to the computer via the USB cable. For each Mobile Unit being used, do the following: 1. Launch PigCHAMP Mobile on the PC by double clicking on the desktop icon. 2. For Windows XP, launch ActiveSync from System Tray. If the Mobile Unit and PC are connected properly, the ActiveSync screen should indicate it is connected. 3. Add the Mobile Unit through PigCHAMP Mobile Manager by clicking on the Add a New Handheld icon. 4. Enter the Handheld Identifier (Ex. HH1). Your Handheld Identifier can be any three character alphanumeric combination. 5. Enter the IP Address of the Mobile Unit that you previously recorded. 6. Click Save > Close 7. The PigCHAMP Mobile Manager should show each Mobile Identifier and IP Address. Highlight the Mobile Identifier on the left-hand side of the screen. 8. Click on Install Menu a. Select Compact Framework 9. The following screen will appear on the PC. Do NOT click OK at this time. 26

10. For Psion units you will need to do the following for all other units proceed with next step. a. Select Device on the mobile b. Tap Install in lower left-hand corner of the Mobile Screen. 11. The Compact Framework will be installed on the Mobile Unit. This may take several minutes. Once completed the following screen will appear on the Mobile Unit. a. **(If the Compact Framework is already on the device you will get a screen that says it already exists on device, tap OK and you will get a screen that says the installation was unsuccessful, tap OK in upper right hand corner) b. Tap OK to reboot the Mobile Unit. 12. The Mobile Unit will restart. Once it is back to the Home screen, continue on with the installation. 13. Click OK on the warning message that appeared on the PC and wait for ActiveSync to re-connect, if it hasn t already and then continue on. 14. In PigCHAMP Mobile Manger click Install > SQL Mobile 2005 15. The following screen will appear on the PC. Do NOT click OK at this time. 16. SQL Mobile 2005 will be installed on the Mobile Unit. This may take several minutes. 17. Once completed, the following screen will appear on the Mobile Unit. 27

18. ** (If the mobile already had the Compact Framework installed you need to restart your mobile now). a. Tap OK in the upper right hand corner of the Mobile Unit screen. 19. Click OK on the warning message that appeared on the PC. 20. In PigCHAMP Mobile Manger click Install > PigCHAMP Mobile 21. The following screen may appear on the PC. Do NOT click OK at this time. 22. PigCHAMP Mobile will be installed on the Mobile Unit. This may take several minutes. 23. Once completed, the following screen will appear on the Mobile Unit. Tap OK in the upper right hand corner of the Mobile Unit screen. 24. Click OK on the message that appeared on the PC. 25. If the message did not appear, continue on with the installation. The following screen will appear on the PC: a. Click OK 26. Continue onto Section H 28

H. Disable Power Save Function Unless disabled by the user, the Mobile Device has a built in Power Save function that will turn the mobile device off after a short amount of inactivity. Although this is a very nice feature to have, it can cause issues with the synchronization process. It is very important that you disable the Power Save function prior to synchronization. The Power Save can be disabled by following the steps below: 1. Tap Start > Settings 2. Tap on System Tab 3. Tap on Backlight 4. Uncheck the box in front of Turn off backlight if device is not used for a. Tap on External Power Tab 29

5. Uncheck the box in front of Turn off backlight if device is not used for. a. Tap on Adjust Power Settings to Conserve Power at the bottom. 6. Tap on Advanced Tab a. Uncheck the box in front of Turn off device if not used for in the top section and the bottom section. i. Tap the OK box in the upper right-hand corner to exit. 7. Continue onto Section I. 30

I. Test Mobile Sync Disconnect the Mobile Unit(s) from the USB Cable and disconnect the USB Cable from your computer. Make sure the Wireless Router is connected on each Mobile Unit. If connected, the wireless icon will show as connected in the menu bar. If the Wireless Router is not connected, tap on the wireless icon and the wireless connection will be established. M O B I L E I N S T A L L A T I O N G U I D E Open PigCHAMP Mobile application on the Mobile Unit. 1. Tap on Start a. Tap Programs 2. Tap on PigCHAMP Mobile 3. The PigCHAMP Mobile application will launch, taking you to the sign-on screen. 4. Click on the Test Menu in the PigCHAMP Mobile Manager. a. Select Test All Handhelds Ready to Sync 5. If a proper connection has been established, the handheld box will turn green. If the box turns red: 1. Disable the Power Save Function. Make sure the USB Cable is NOT connected to the Mobile Unit OR the PC. 2. Make sure the PigCHAMP Mobile program is open on the Mobile Unit. 3. Verify the wireless connection is activated on the PC. 4. If that does not solve the problem, close out of the PigCHAMP Mobile Manager on the PC, re-launch it, and try the test again. *When your PigCHAMP Mobile System is ready to sync, you can import farm data and begin using the program. See the sheet titled Data Transfer between PigCHAMP Mobile and PigCHAMP Care 3000 for instructions on how to do this. 31
