THE MICROSOFT UNLIMITED POTENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES APPLICATION PACKAGE 1. Objectives The scholarship aims to: 2. Scholarship Details Motivate disabled people to pursue higher level of learning in IT. Nurture outstanding disabled students in the IT field so that they can serve as good role models in encouraging other disabled students to strive for success. 2.1 The Scholarship is available for local full time diploma or degree course. A list of approved tertiary institutions is found in Annex 1 of this package. 2.2 Application of the scholarship will be opened from 1 April to 30 June 2012. Late application will not be entertained. 2.3 The scholarship funds complete course fees and all related examination fees up to a cap of $7,500 per annum. In additional the scholarship provides S$750 per annum for purchase of textbooks and related study materials. 2.4 Scholars from low income family (per capita household income not exceeding $700 per month) may apply for Microsoft Specific Assistance of up to S$3,000 per annum, subject to means testing and the approval of the Microsoft Unlimited Potential Scholarship and Certification Training Grant Review Panel. 2.5 There will be no bond attached to this Scholarship. Scholars are encouraged to contribute in the form of community service with any organisation in the social service sector and serve as role models. 2.6 The Microsoft Scholarship and Certification Training Grant Review Panel reserves the right to revoke any Scholarship awarded if the progress, performance and behaviour of the scholar are considered unsatisfactory. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must satisfy the following eligibility criteria and conditions: must be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident have a permanent disability (medical certification is required) have good academic records satisfy the admission criteria of the tertiary institutions listed in Annex 1 prove relevance of training to employment opportunities demonstrate ability to handle both academic studies and work commitments, if any demonstrate commitment to serve the disabled community upon completion of course continuation of scholarship will be dependent on the scholar s academic performance at the registered tertiary institution at point of the award of scholarship 4. Instructions for completion of application 4.1 Please complete all sections of the application form by writing or typing in BLOCK LETTERS. 4.2 Certified true copies of citizenship status, educational certificates and transcripts, testimonials, medical report and other relevant documents must attached to application 4.3 Any misrepresentation of information or wilful suppression of material facts will lead to disqualification of the application and if awarded, to termination of the grant. 4.4 All applications are subject to the evaluation and approval of the Microsoft Scholarship and Certification Training Grant Review Panel.
