Helping Your Kid Choose a College: A PARENTS GUIDE

Introduction Hello. We appreciate you, that you are Evan (L) and Chad (R), a sunny fall day on the farm considering us as prospective adoptive parents. We are Evan and Chad. We are excited to grow our family with an infant. Placing a child for adoption is an act of love and we know this within our own family. Chad was adopted as an infant. If you select us, we look forward to creating a relationship with you. Our Story While volunteering in Minneapolis in 2005 our paths crossed. We instantly connected after discovering we share the same birthday. We are both curious and spiritual men with common interests. We dated casually until we decided to move in together in early 2009. Our social circles grew to include many new friends. We moved back to Wisconsin in 2012 to be closer to family. In 2015 we were married by our minister with a few close friends in attendance. We plan to hold a larger reception for family and friends in 2016. Meet Chad and Evan Chad is a kind and generous man. He loves animals, reading and mastering Tai Chi, the Chinese martial art. Chad is dedicated to his adoptive and biological family. He also plays a prominent role in our church singing in the choir and assisting to maintain the grounds. Chad enjoys visiting friends and family, relaxing, listening and sharing. He is playful and loving with his nieces and Chad and his niece, always up for fun nephews. He enjoys riding his bike and has completed 300 mile charity rides. I love him most because he is a devoted partner. He supports me in becoming the best I can be and I know he will do the same with our children.

Evan is a very giving and loving man. Evan gives so much of his time in helping others. He faithfully assists his father with his dairy farm by tending to the cows regularly. He tutors 4 kids assisting them with their school studies. He is very active in church, singing in the choir, helping maintain the computers and always willing to lend a hand. Evan has a drive and determination to continue to improve our home Craft time with Chad s niece and nephew and family life. He gets a vision of what can be and then proceeds to make it happen. He is very family-oriented and I m excited to grow our family together, with him. Our Home and Community In 2012 we found the opportunity to purchase a property which touches the farm land of Evan s childhood dairy farm so we moved from Minnesota back to Wisconsin. We have renovated some of our home, with plans to continue making improvements. We are active members in our church in Waukesha. We sing in Our goats are always curious the choir and volunteer our time helping maintain the operation of the church. We have several pets. We have two Boston Terrier dogs, which are the only household pets we have. There are also five red chickens that produce farm fresh eggs and 3 goats that effectively remove overgrowth and weeds on the property. The goats and chickens require daily feed and watering most days of the week. The dogs get most of our attention. We chose them The chickens give us great eggs and they are very funny because of how family friendly these dogs are.

We love them deeply. Chad, Evan, Evan s mom, dad, sister and brother-in-law Meet our Family Evan s parents, sister and brother-in-law are our neighbors. We enjoy spending time with them watching our favorite shows, enjoying local concerts and playing games. Evan s mom is a retired school teacher who now works at a local day care. Evan s dad continues to farm the dairy cow operation. Evan has extended family living in the same area, with which we often spend time for birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions. Chad s parents have been married for over 50 years, that s a long time Chad s adoptive parents, sister and family live in northern WI. We regularly travel there to spend time together. Chad s dad also owns a cabin and land nearby which we enjoy traveling to for rest and relaxation. The whole family comes together there to enjoy the outdoors. Chad catches up weekly on the phone with his parents and regularly too with his sister and family. Chad located his birth mother and father several years ago having since established a wonderful relationship with her and her family as well as him and his family. We spend time together during the summer and on holiday visits. He keeps in touch regularly with biological relatives through Facebook and telephone.

Our Work Evan works as an underwriter for an insurance company from home fulltime. He worked for many years in the company s headquarters in Minneapolis before moving to Wisconsin. Chad works in an office about five miles away from our home, as a programmer analyst. He too stayed with his company when we moved to Wisconsin. To maintain balance we communicate Evan, Chad and Fenway headed to New Mexico in an RV with each other often to ensure everything is tended to at home. We appreciate the many weeks of paid time off available to us. This time off gives us the opportunity to rest, relax and take care of personal matters. A few of our Favorites We enjoy watching movies, traveling, spending time with our extended family and volunteering time in our community. We also love reading, painting, gardening and cooking. Both Evan and Chad like to cook which makes meal planning easier. One of our favorite memories is traveling in Chad s parents RV to visit our friends and their baby boy in New Mexico. We saw so much of our country while traveling like retirees. There was something special about that journey across America for us which we will never forget. It took a lot of teamwork to make it all work. We love traveling to visit family and friends. We have traveled to Germany, France, Iceland, and Dominican Republic to name a few. Evan s favorite quote: It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who Holiday Painting with Evan s family, who s the best?

gets the credit. - Harry S. Truman Chad s favorite quote: When you are content to be yourself and don t compare or compete, everyone will respect you. Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching B Chad with a friends baby in New Mexico Thoughts about Parenting We want to be parents who bring out the best in our children. Positive reinforcement is an important component to our planned parenting style. We want to help children to grow by being an example to them of personal discipline, dedication and passion. It is important for a child to explore the arts, music, science, literature, sports and so much more to lead a fulfilled life of their choosing. We both believe opportunities for education are important to empower a child. With that said education is not the only path to fulfilling a meaningful life. We want our children to determine their own path. We are ready to meet and answer questions that you may have for us. Please know, we want to give a child a loving and supportive home from the bottoms of our hearts. It takes courage and love to consider us as parents for your child and we will trust you. We want the decision to be the right one for your child and for you. We wish you much love and happiness. Yours truly, Evan and Chad
