Trading Dashboard Tutorial The Trading Dashboard is the main page for all Trading information. You can access stock quotes, view open orders, place Buy and Sell Orders, and access the trading Company Profile Pages. This document is a walk-through of the most important features of the Trading Dashboard and is a guide for effectively using the Trading Dashboard to trade stocks on SSX. Access the Trading Dashboard (1-a) (1-b) To access the Trading Dashboard: 1 a) Navigate to the Trading System heading in the main menu bar after you have signed in to SSX. b) Click on Trading Dashboard Page 1 of 6
Features and Functions of the Trading Dashboard The Trading Dashboard has 4 main sections displaying Trading Companies Current Stock Quotes, Sell Orders, Buy Orders, and your Current Stock Holdings. (2) 2 Trading Companies Current Stock Quotes displays all trading stocks and their current prices. Sell Orders displays all the Sell Orders that the Investor has placed and their status. Buy Orders displays all the Buy Orders that the Investor has placed and their status. Current Stock Holdings displays the stocks that an Investor owns and the value of these holdings. Page 2 of 6
Stock Quotes and Trading Symbols The first pieces of information available on the Trading Dashboard are the Stock Quotes for all trading stocks on SSX. (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) 3 The stock s Symbol is the identifying symbol for the company. Click on the symbol in this table to navigate to the Company s Profile page. 4 Last Quantity and Last Price indicate the number of shares that were traded last and at what price the traded was completed. Last Price can be considered the market rate for the stock. There is an arrow indicator next to Last Price showing what direction the stock price has moved over the previous trade. 5 The Total Shares Traded Today and Trades Today figures will provide a reference for the stock s trading frequency and volume and can assist in gauging the timing in which a trade might be completed. 6 The Current Bid column displays the currently open Buy Order (Bid) with the highest maximum purchase price. This is the best price you can get if you want to sell your shares immediately. Mouse over the Current Bid for a stock and see other open Buy Orders for the stock. 7 The Current Offer column displays the currently open Sell Order (Offer) with the lowest minimum sale price. This is the best price you can get if you want to buy shares of this company immediately. Mouse over the Current Offer for a stock and see other open Sell Orders for the stock. 8 In the Function column Investors can choose to place a Buy Order for that stock. If an Investor owns shares of the stock already, both Buy and Sell will be available options. Page 3 of 6
Sell Orders The Sell Orders section in the Trading Dashboard displays all Sell Orders that the Investor has placed and the status of the Orders. If an order has been Completed, Expired or Cancelled the Investor can remove it from the display. All Sell Orders are displayed in this section and the table is default sorted in ascending chronological order. The table is, however, sortable by all the column headings making it simple to locate all your Sell Orders for a particular stock, price range, or date. (9) (10) (11) 9 The Quantity is the number of shares to be sold and the Min. Price is the lowest price the Seller is willing to accept for each share. The Investor has chosen whether or not to allow Partial Trades on the order (accepting a trade with a Buyer that has only ordered a portion of the total shares for sale). This is displayed in the Order Type column. 10 The timing in which the order will expire is shown in the Order Expires column. The Seller is able to choose whether the order will remain open until it is filled or will expire automatically at the end of the trading day. 11 The Function column displays the status of the order and allows the seller to cancel the order if desired. Orders that have already been Canceled, are Expired, or have been Completed can be cleared from the display by clicking the X in that row. Page 4 of 6
Buy Orders The Buy Orders section in the Trading Dashboard displays all Buy Orders that the Investor has placed and the status of the orders. If an order has been Completed, Expired or Cancelled, the Investor can clear it from the display. All Buy Orders are displayed in this section and the table is default sorted in ascending chronological order. The table is, however, sortable by all the column headings making it simple to locate all the orders for a particular stock, price range, or date. The information in this table is the same as in the Sell Orders table above, except the Max. Price is the highest price the Buyer is willing to pay for one share of that stock. (12) 12 Max. Price is the highest price the Buyer is willing to pay for each share. The Investor has chosen whether or not to allow Partial Trades on the order (accepting a trade with a Seller that is only selling a portion of the total shares on the Buy Order).. Page 5 of 6
Current Stock Holdings The Current Stock Holdings section on the Trading Dashboard provides the Investor with a quick view of all the stocks that they currently own and the status of the shares. (13) (14) (15) (16) 13 The total number of shares that the Investor owns is in the Quantity column and the Current Price is the price per share of the last successful trade for that particular stock. 14 Value is the calculated value of the holdings based on the Quantity and the Current Price. 15 In the Notes column, the status of the shares will be listed, Shares can be Free Trading or Restricted. 16 Investors may choose to open an order (Buy or Sell) in the Function column.
