VISUAL STYLE GUIDE Effective September 2007

CASCADE CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS - STYLE GUIDE INTRODUCTION Serving our Schools through Marketing and Communications... The Cascade Christian Schools Style Guide has been created as a tool to unify written and visual brand messages of our schools. This unified message will assist in promoting the excellence that CCS strives for in education and service to our students and families. The guide and accompanying disk is intended to simplify the process of creating the web, printed and other tools that visually promote Cascade Christian Schools. Future additions to the guide will include an editorial style guide, email guidelines, and copyright information. Updates for yearly spiritual and marketing themes will also occur. This guide is provided by the District Office through the Marketing Department. Questions may be directed to the Marketing Department, and assistance and training is gladly offered. Contact: District Office Marketing Department 815 21st Street SE Puyallup, WA 98372 253-841-1776 email: susan@cascadechristian.org

TYPEFACES - INTRODUCTION The following two pages display the corporate and secondary fonts used by Cascade Christian Schools in their print and online publications. Using a unified font palette throughout the system will enable CCS to send a clear written and visual message to our internal and external audiences. The fonts are from a combination of sources. With the exception of Garamond Semibold Italic, all of these fonts may be loaded onto a staff member s system, provided it has Microsoft Office 2003 (or newer) already installed. It was necessary to purchase the licensing for Garamond Semibold Italic. If this font is not already installed on your computer system, please notify the Marketing Department at the District Office so they can make sure we have purchased enough licenses to cover usage. DO NOT choose the Garamond font and click bold italic without loading the specific font onto your system. It will appear slanted on the screen, but will not print correctly as Garamond Semibold Italic. To load fonts on your system: 1. Insert the CCS PLUS Guide disk into your computer s CD drive. 2. When the window opens up, double-click on the Fonts folder. (If the window doesn t open, right click on Start, left click on Explore, then click on the CD drive on your system.) 3. On the upper toolbar, click Edit, Select All 4. Click Edit, Copy 5. Click on the C:/ drive on your system, then Windows, then Fonts 6. Click on Edit, then Paste. All of the copied fonts should now be in your font folder available for use on your system. 7. If you have loaded the Garamond Semibold Italic font onto your system, notify the Marketing Department so the registry number can be logged as in use. CCS uses Garamond at 90%, for visual and space-related purposes. Please do the following process, depending on the software you re using, when using Garamond in your publications: To change Garamond to 90% width in Word: 1. Select the text you want to change. 2. Click Format, Font. 3. Click on the Character Spacing tab. 4. In the scale box, enter 90%. To change Garamond to 90% width in Publisher: 1. Select the text you want to change. 2. Click Format, Character Spacing 3. In the scaling box, enter 90% For other font questions, call the Marketing Department at 253-841-1776.

Garamond is an ideal font for body text in letters and newsletters, Gill Sans for headlines and captions, and ALS Script for decorative purposes. The additional fonts are for decorative and accessory use in newsletters and flyers, in addition to the corporate fonts. Please contact the Marketing Department for questions about proper font usage. The corporate colors are the main branding colors of CCS, and should be included whenever possible in CCS publications. Additional colors are used for decorative purposes (for example: development events, summer camp, child care and preschool advertising, etc.). Please call the Marketing Department if you have questions about appropriate usage of additional colors. To change font/line/shape colors in Word or Publisher: 1.
