The Innovation Center for Transport Logistics and Transformation

The Centers of innovation fall under the Regional Strategy for Research and Innovation which has the following objectives facilitate the matching of supply and demand for innovation; direct research towards real needs; promote the processes of technology transfer; promote stable partnership processes between companies and research centers; encourage the creation and attraction of innovative enterprises; promote the internationalization of enterprises.

The Innovation Centers The Innovation Centers are groups of enterprises and research organizations active in a particular territory, or within a sector, working to stimulate and enable innovation processes through: intensive interactions between companies and research organizations; shared use of facilities for scientific research and technological innovation; the exchange of experiences and knowledge; launching technology transfer activities networking activities and dissemination of information among the promoters of the innovation Center

The Centers on Innovation in Calabria In Calabria there are 8 Centers of innovation Transport, Logistics and Transformation Technologies for Health Cultural Heritage Telecommunications and Information Technology Quality of food and agriculture sectors Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Technologies for Sustainable Management of Environmental Resources Materials Technologies and Production Aquatic Resources and Fisheries Food Chains

The Centers on Innovation in Calabria The Centers for Innovation was created in response to the public notice for the establishment and expansion of Regional Innovation Centers call POR FESR Calabria 2007/2013, Integrated Regional Strategic Project, Regional Network of Innovation Centres, published on 07/09/2010.

The Innovation Center for Transport, Logistics and Transformation It has as reference the area of Gioia Tauro, but operates at a regional level in Logistics, Transport and Transormation

Objectives of the Center The Center aims at stimulating the demand and qualifying the offer in Logistics, Transport and Transformation sectors in the Calabria Region, as well as at national and international level; aims at favoring the growth of cultural exchange, networking and clustering approach; guide the processes of innovation and technology transfer. meet the demand for research and innovation of companies offering high value-added services, promoting R&D projects involving Universities and Research Centers, transferring research results and promoting the innovation to internal and external companies.

Objectives of the Center Priorities of the Center are to encourage the development of new projects and businesses and attracting productive investments in the Calabria Region.. the final goal is the grouth of competitiveness of the participating companies and, more generally, of the entire regional economy.

The Management of the Center Logistica Ricerca e Sviluppo s.c.r.l. (R&D.LOG) was designated for the management and coordination of the Innovation Center. R&D.LOG is a public private cluster created in 2005 within the Programmatic Framework Agreement between the Italia Ministry of Economy and Finance, Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research and the Calabria Region with the role to build a Technological District of Logistics and Transport in Gioia Tauro s area.

Basic and Specialized Services Communication and information services on technologies, norms and new opportunities Scheduling of shipments for freight companies; Planning staff shift; Planning of loading and unloading goods in distribution centers; Simulation of logistics and / or manufacturing processes; Services for the optimized management of warehouses; Ship2Shore Links; AEO certifications; Management Models; Information exchange in Gioia Tauro area

Technology Transfer, Networking and Strategic Marketing Services: Technology Audit; Support to the R&D project; Analysis of technical and economic feasibility; New business models design (Business Plan); Technical assistance to funding access; Internationalization; Events organization and participation;

Training Training activities concern the following areas Management of Innovation processes; Technology Transfer Models; Technology Transfer Implementation; Advanced Informatics training; Spin off and new business; Scheduling of shipments for freight companies; Business management; Planning of loading and unloading goods in distribution centers; Crowdsourcing; Safety;

Research Lines Methods and Techniques to improve external logistics; Methods and Techniques to improve internal logistics; Green Logistics: environmental protection and land conservation; Security and safety in the supply chain and logistics nodes.

R&D projects (strategic agenda) In collaboration with partners were defined a number of research and development projects in the following areas: Optimization of the maintenance services; Enhancement of environmental sustainability of the terminal based on the analysis and reorganization of data and simulation; Improving the safety of people and vehicles moving in port areas; Rating additional outlets for distribution companies; Services and Innovation in the Logistics Business Management; Integrated distribution platform to support consolidation and deconsolidation; Information System Monitoring and control of complex processes currently implemented at the port of Gioia Tauro

R&D projects projects were defined enabling collaboration between companies, universities, research centers and service companies.
